đ Open Discussion with Teachers at Taki Bhabanath School
Today, we had a meaningful and engaging discussion with the teachers of Taki Bhabanath School. We began by introducing Vijayini Collective and briefly shared the kind of work we do and the goals we strive to achieve.
We then moved into an in-depth discussion on the topic of âgender variant,â where teachers actively participated and shared their perspectives. The exchange of ideas made the conversation insightful and enriching.
During the discussion, we placed an important proposal before the teachers. We emphasized that while we may not always be present and projects may eventually come to an end, the process of awareness should continue. Therefore, we suggested that schools can introduce additional classes where topics like gender variance can be explained to students through stories, simple examples, and open discussions.
Some teachers mentioned that there are no such students in their school. In response, we shared that while that may be true, awareness is still essential. If students are informed from an early age, they will be better prepared to interact respectfully and empathetically with gender variant individuals they may encounter outside school or in society.
We strongly believe that building empathy, respect, and understanding from a young age is crucial. Introducing such topics through regular discussions and storytelling can play a vital role in shaping a more inclusive and compassionate generation.
