When you marry someone, choose wisely—because you’re not just choosing a partner for yourself; you’re choosing a father for your children. You might believe you can give them everything on your own. You might believe your love will be enough. But one day, you will sit across from your child, and their innocent questions will shatter you in ways you never imagined.
“Mom, why doesn’t Daddy sleep with us?”
“Why doesn’t he come to the park with us?”
“Why doesn’t he hold your hand like other daddies do?”
“Why don’t both of you come to my school’s annual function like other parents?”
And you will have no answers. You will force a smile, change the topic, maybe buy them another toy, thinking distractions will do what love couldn’t. But toys don’t replace presence. Money doesn’t buy memories. And no amount of bedtime stories can make up for the absence of a father’s laughter echoing through the house.
