📣 We’re hiring a Social Media & Communications Associate!

Do you enjoy finding stories, creating engaging content and using communications to connect people with issues that matter?

At Hasiru Dala, we’re looking for a Social Media & Communications Associate to strengthen our digital presence and help bring stories from our work with waste picker communities to wider audiences.

In this role, you’ll:
✨ Create content across Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube and Facebook
✨ Develop stories from our programmes, campaigns and advocacy work
✨ Plan and support digital campaigns
✨ Visit field locations and engage with waste picker communities
✨ Track social media performance and audience engagement
✨ Collaborate with our communications, programmes and design teams

We’re looking for someone who is curious, proactive, creative and detail-oriented, with strong storytelling and communication skills.

🎬 Agency Beyond the Margins and Social Entitlements is set to screen at BLR Design Week 2026.

The Agency Beyond the Margins film brings forward the journeys of waste pickers as they build agency, take ownership of their livelihoods and emerge as leaders in their communities.

Through stories of entrepreneurship, collective action and decision-making, Agency Beyond the Margins looks at how waste pickers are shaping their own lives and contributing to the way cities manage waste.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring waste picker leaders, practitioners and allies, moderated by Chinmayi Naik, Executive Director, Hasiru Dala.

We’re hiring! | Community Facilitator – Social Protection Program

Hasiru Dala is looking for a Community Facilitator to support the implementation of our Social Protection Program in Ballari City and surrounding Urban Local Bodies.

The role involves working closely with waste picker communities, hair pickers and itinerant buyers to facilitate access to social security entitlements, strengthen community institutions, coordinate with government departments and support health, education and livelihood initiatives.

📍 Location: Ballari City and surrounding ULBs
💼 Experience: Community development, social protection, urban livelihoods or the NGO sector preferred
🎓 Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Rural Development or a relevant discipline
💰 Salary CTC: ₹25,000 per month
📅 Joining: Immediate

♻️🌿 Freedom From Plastic Campaign | Pavoor Gram Panchayat 💚🌍

On 29 August 2026, we came together at Pavoor Malar Junction to spread awareness about the harmful impact of single-use plastics and encourage our community to choose sustainable, reusable alternatives. 🌱

With the active participation of Panchayat representatives and staff, Anganwadi workers, Sanjeevini Okkoota, MBK, Sooji Mallige team, SWMC workers and local residents, the campaign created meaningful conversations around responsible plastic use. 🙌

📄 Notices were issued to shopkeepers to avoid prohibited plastic items.

🛍️ Free reusable cloth bags were distributed to shoppers carrying plastic bags, encouraging a simple but impactful shift towards sustainable choices.

Every small action counts. Together, we can reduce plastic pollution and build a cleaner, greener and more sustainable community. 💚

Say NO to single-use plastic. Say YES to a sustainable future! ♻️🌍

♻️ Freedom from Plastic – Boliyar Gram Panchayat 🌿

As part of the “10 Days, 10 Panchayats” campaign, Hasiru Dala joined the Dakshina Kannada District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen and Boliyar Gram Panchayat on 27 August for a community-led Freedom from Plastic campaign.

📢 An awareness rally from Boliyar Junction to Masjid Gate brought together community members, students, teachers, women’s groups and frontline workers to spread the message of reducing plastic use.

🛍️ The campaign also engaged local shopkeepers and residents on the harmful impacts of plastic, while promoting and distributing reusable cloth bags as a sustainable alternative.

Small steps can create a big change. 💚

🌱 Cleaner Parks. Conscious Communities.

A cleaner park begins with a conscious community. 💚

As part of – Volunteer for Parks, Hasiru Dala joined volunteers at Amrutha Park, KHB Colony, Koramangala, on 29 August to make the space cleaner, greener and more sustainable.

From cleaning the park to creating awareness on 4-way waste segregation and responsible textile waste disposal, volunteers turned awareness into action. ♻️

Because waste doesn’t disappear when we throw it away—responsible segregation is where sustainable waste management begins.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us in caring for Bengaluru’s public spaces. 🌳
