No Family Should Sleep Hungry After Kogilu Layout Slum Demolition

An Urgent Appeal for Emergency Food Support

On 20 December 2025, more than 1,000 residents of Kogilu Layout slum settlements in Bengaluru were rendered homeless following a sudden demolition drive.

For the past two months, families - including children, elderly persons, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and daily wage workers - have been forced to live on the demolition site. They have no access to cooking facilities, no stable income, and no immediate rehabilitation support.

Today, the biggest crisis they face is hunger.

We request your urgent support. Please contribute generously and share this appeal within your networks.

On 25th February 2025, Sangama, in collaboration with the Police Department, DCPU, Child Helpline, TDH, and Children of India Foundation, organized the Child and Police (CAP) event in Jakkur. Children from all five clusters participated in the event, which provided them with a platform to voice their concerns and challenges directly to police inspectors.

During the event, police officials emphasized that they are protectors and that children should not fear them. The children raised critical issues such as child marriage, goonda violence, fights occurring in school compounds after school hours, drug and alcohol addiction, and instances of teachers punishing students for not studying. The police inspectors responded to these concerns, assuring the children that their safety and well-being were a priority and promised action on the concerns raised.
