Wake Up, Clean Up Bengaluru began as the biggest ever Waste Management Expo organized by the Bruhat Bengakuru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP). With this 7 day expo, BBMP in association with Federation of Karnatake Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) & City Connect aims to bring about awareness and expose the citizens of this city to the enormity of the waste management issues that are currently swam
ping the city. Other Government bodies involved in bringing together this event are the Bangalore Water Supply & Sewerage Board (BWSSB), Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), Pollution Control Board (PCB) Karnataka, Karnataka State Development Bio-fuel Board & Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI). Bringing together this event are The Alternative, The Solid Waste Management Round Table (SWMRT) and Srishti School of Art, Design & Technology
Since then it has continued to work on several aspects of Bengaluru's Solid Waste Management System through conducting pilots, documentation, studying behavior and habit change, implementing multiple programs, etc. Its has since then charted out a comprehensive plan for the city to move towards achieving its goal - that of a Clean Bengaluru!
