Sri Rakum School for The Blind was opened in June 1998, India. The School was founded for children who are born blind or visually impaired. Coming from families living below the poverty line, these children are shunned, denied a childhood and the opportunities to grow into normal adults. Children from distant villages and tribal regions come to Rakum where they are welcome with open arms. No one has ever been turned back.

In the bustling town of Koranangala, Bangalore, a remarkable story unfolds at the residence of Mrs. Renuka Suresh, who embodies resilience and determination. Despite being totally blind, Renuka serves as the Assistant Manager at Canara Bank, where she leads with unparalleled brilliance.

Renuka’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. She completed her schooling, further pursued a postgraduate degree, and achieved her B.Ed and M.A. from Indiranagar Rakums. Her academic achievements are particularly notable as they defy the conventional narrative often associated with disabilities.

Renuka married Mr. Suresh, a sighted tour operator. Together, they create a partnership that flips the old adage "a blind leading the blind" on its head. Instead, it’s a blind woman guiding her sighted husband through the world with her keen intellect and innovative approaches.

As the Assistant Manager overseeing 250 Canara Bank centers, Renuka’s leadership shines. She embodies "Shiva’s Third Eye," a metaphor for deep insight and awareness that extends beyond conventional sight. Her ability to navigate challenges not just for herself but for those around her is a testament to her extraordinary capabilities.

In a world where barriers often define people, Renuka Suresh stands as a beacon of hope and a vivid reminder that true vision comes from within. Her story encourages us all to look beyond physical limitations and recognize the boundless potential that lies in every individual.

Bhavya S N has been appointed as the Honorary Advisor to Sri Rakum School For The Blind, a position reflecting her deep connection to the institution. An alumna, she completed her schooling at Sri Rakum and later earned her postgraduate degree from Acharya Sri Rakum Higher Educational Institute. An IAS aspirant, Bhavya successfully cleared the KAS prelims and mains, and although she didn't advance past the interview stage, she secured a position as a First Division Assistant with the Hoskote Taluk municipal office. Happily married to Mr. Lokesh, a Mechanical Engineer, Bhavya continues to visit her alma mater, inspiring current students to pursue competitive exams and embodying a lasting commitment to the school.

Meet Aksh*ta Deshmukh: The Youngest Administrator of Sri Rakum School, Indiranagar, Bangalore

At just 22 years old, Aksh*ta Deshmukh stands out as the youngest administrator at Sri Rakum School in Indiranagar, Bangalore. Her journey began when her grandfather, a dedicated army man, enrolled her in school at the tender age of five. Tragically, he passed away two years later, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of friendship with Guruji.

Currently pursuing her MBA, Aksh*ta is a proud alumna of Rakum School, where her multifaceted talents flourished. She is a passionate dancer, a tech-savvy professional photographer, and an expert in social media. Her experience includes working as a Montessori teacher and a primary school educator at Rakum's Devanahalli campus.

Beyond academics, Aksh*ta has a passion for vehicles, holding a driver's license for both two- and four-wheelers. As an all-rounder, she can often be found at the school’s reception, engaging with donors and conducting guided tours for visitors.
