Bangalore Hospice Trust (BHT) – Karunashraya, meaning ‘an abode of compassion’, is a registered public charitable trust and a joint project of the Indian Cancer Society (Karnataka Chapter) and Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar, providing free professional palliative care for cancer patients who are beyond cure, post active treatment. In 20 years of service, we have rendered care for over 14,000 advance

d cancer patients and their families via our 55 bed Inpatient total care hospice and home care service. We also provide patient/family advisory services and conduct Training programmes for Health Professionals and Health Assistants. We welcome you to visit/connect with us as we depend on support from of well-wishers to help 'Add Life to Days' of patients and their families when there is little else left!

Celebrating International Nurses Day 2026 at Our Hospice

On International Nurses Day celebrated on 12th May, we came together to honour the heart of our hospice – our incredible nurses.

Their unwavering dedication, compassion, and selfless service bring comfort, dignity, and hope to our advanced-stage cancer patients and their families during life's most challenging moments.

As part of the celebration, we had our doctors, counsellors, and physiotherapists from each ward step forward to share heartfelt words of appreciation. The event was filled with warmth, gratitude, and some fun-filled games that our staff truly enjoyed – because those who give so much deserve moments of joy too.

To every nurse who stands by patients day and night, offering care, concern, and kindness –

Karunashraya’s Annual Memorial Day was a beautiful gathering of hearts—dignitaries, family members, and dedicated caregivers of those we have lovingly cared for. This day is observed in remembrance of the first patient who came to Karunashraya on May 1st, 27 years ago. That moment became the seed of everything we are today—a home of compassion, dignity, and grace in life’s most tender chapter.

The music filled the air in the most healing way—soulful vocals, the gentle cry of a flute, the heartbeat of the tabla and dholak, and graceful dances that spoke what words could not.

The evening closed not with sorrow, but with gratitude.

To every family who shared their journey of grief and resilience—thank you for reminding us why we do what we do.

On 28th April 2026, we had the privilege of conducting an impactful awareness program in collaboration with CRPF, Bhubaneswar.

Our medical team delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the range of services both in patient & homecare of Bagchi Karunashrya we offer, aimed at enhancing understanding and accessibility. The session fostered meaningful discussions and engaging interactions with both the medical and non-clinical members of the CRPF team.

We were honored to host this session in the esteemed presence of the DIG (Medical) and the Chief Medical Officer of CRPF, whose support and participation added great value to the initiative.

Grateful for the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and contribute towards better awareness and healthcare outreach.
