Meet Pinki. She's good at solving math problems. But working in a team? That's something she's still learning.

And she's not the only one.

India's 14.71 lakh schools serve over 24.69 crore students. Near-universal access has been achieved at the primary stage. Foundational literacy is improving. Infrastructure is expanding.

India has made real progress in getting children into school. But the question isโ€”what are they actually learning?

As we work toward Viksit Bharat 2047, we need to ask: Are we preparing children just to pass exams, or to collaborate, think critically, and thrive in real life?

The answer lies in making life skills core, not optional.

During an exposure visit to Punjab, the Uttar Pradesh team engaged with academic and institutional practices across SCERT Punjab, DIET Amritsar, and schools in Amritsar district. The visit focused on FLN, teacher professional development, digital integration, assessment reforms, and institutional strengthening.
The learnings from the visit have opened up important conversations around contextual adaptation and strengthening ongoing academic reforms in Uttar Pradesh.

Teams from Uttar Pradesh visited Karnataka to understand how morning assemblies can be structured to increase student participation. These learnings were adapted for the state and developed into a Student-Led Morning Assembly Calendar.

Schools now use the calendar to plan daily assemblies.
Students get regular chances to speak, present, and take the lead.
Teachers support the process and ensure more students are involved.
The model was piloted in 52 schools across Hapur and Varanasi, with continuous support and review.

Based on this, the state has now taken it forward.
Developed with SCERT Uttar Pradesh and supported by Mantra4Change, the initiative is now being scaled across ๐Ÿ,๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘,๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ‘ ๐ ๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐ฌ๐œ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฌ in Uttar Pradesh.

It was launched on 5th May 2026 by ๐˜๐จ๐ ๐ข ๐€๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ๐š๐ง๐š๐ญ๐ก marking the start of statewide implementation.

SSLC results this year tell an important story from North Karnataka.

In Kalaburagi, Raichur, Bidar and Yadgir, schools have been working through Samartha, Mantra4Changeโ€™s School Leadership Development Program.

School leaders have been working with their teams on key challenges in schools like attendance, exam preparation and parent participation, with support from Mantra4Change. The work has stayed consistent across Classes 8, 9 and 10.
This year, that effort reflects in the results.

All four districts have shown significant improvement in SSLC performance.

This is what systemic intervention in leadership development can look like in practice.

"Data became a shared language and it changed the conversations we were having."

Raghunath R never set out to work in education.

He started as an engineer, became a teacher, and kept asking how he could reach more people and make a bigger difference?
