Every child deserves to feel safe, heard, and supported- including children and adolescents with disabilities. Yet, when it comes to sexual abuse, their unique needs are often overlooked.

What does peace look like when we bring women’s voices, local realities, and children’s futures to the centre of the conversation? 🌎☮️

On the sidelines of the 80th General Assembly, Dr. Sangeeta Saksena, Co-Founder at Enfold India, joined global leaders at the Women’s Leadership for Peace event, hosted by the UN Women Leaders Network in partnership with the Government of Iceland and the UN Foundation.

The panel, chaired by Melanne Verveer (Executive Director, Georgetown Institute of Women, Peace and Security), included powerful voices such as Helen Clark (former Prime Minister of New Zealand), Susana Malcorra (Co-Founder, GWL Voices; former Foreign Minister of Argentina), Hibaaq Osman (CEO & Founder, Karama), and Inés Yábar (Young Leaders for the SDGs, UN Youth Office).

The call was clear: humanise, feminise, and localise peace efforts- and hold leaders accountable to their children.

In her interactions, Dr. Sangeeta shared how Enfold is promoting restorative practices and restorative justice in schools, colleges, and communities in India, so conflicts can be resolved not through punishment, but through dialogue, dignity, and healing.

Our founder, Dr. Sangeeta Saksena representated Enfold at a session with women leaders from the Global South – primarily from India and South Asia – during the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 80) held in New York on 24th September 2025.

Ford Foundation facilitated this event with leaders who have been at the forefront of driving profound social impact, whether as courageous grassroots leaders, influential civil society advocates, or visionary philanthropy leaders.

There was an engaging discussion on how to maintain agency and enthusiasm in the current scenario and hat institutions, funders, and people working on the ground can focus on.

Too often, conversations on gender, sexuality, and child safety don’t reach the last mile, the very communities where they are most needed.

Enfold, with support from UNICEF and the Directorate of Child Protection, organised a Convergence Meeting of Support Persons and key stakeholders involved in the implementation of POCSO Act and Rules from Division 4 at Bellary on August 23rd.

Support Person, CWC members, DCPOs, LPOs, police officers, Prosecutors, DLSA, Medical Officers, CCI Superintendents and others from 7 districts attended the event (Bellary, Bidar, Gulbarga, Koppal, Yadgir, Raichur. Vijaynagara) attended the event.
Enfold resource person Kushi Kushalappa along with the team of Serina D.Souza, Babu K.V and Ume Khanum from the Support and rehabilitation team were present.

Stakeholders were able to have open dialogue and explore possible collaboration to ease the journeys of child victims under POCSO Act and their families. Clarity on the roles of Support Persons vis a vis stakeholders was presented and Discussions on way forward for better response to a child who reports cases under POCSO Act were held as group activities.

Enfold, with support from UNICEF and the Directorate of Child Protection, organised a Convergence Meeting of Support Persons and key stakeholders involved in the implementation of POCSO Act and Rules from Division 3 at Dharwad on August 21st.

The objective of these convergence meetings were:
-Have a common understanding on the procedures and provisions under POCSO Act and POCSO Rules;
-Have an understanding about Support Persons and their roles as per POCSO Rules;
-To discuss challenges, gaps and good practices from the districts;
-Discuss a way forward for better response to a child who reports cases under POCSO Act.

Stakeholders were able to have open dialogue and explore possible collaboration to ease the journeys of child victims under POCSO Act and their families. Clarity on the roles of Support Persons vis a vis stakeholders was also presented and discussed.
