The smiles and the finale at the Wheelchair Service Training Program – Intermediate Level - Empowering mobility. Enabling independence.
Motivation India is pleased to share that our Wheelchair Service Training Program – Intermediate Level from 4th to 8 May 2026, in Raipur, Chhattisgarh was extremely successful. The training was held in partnership with Aakanksha Lions Institute of Learning and Empowerment, Raipur, and with the support of Rangoonwala Foundation. Thank you!
The training brought # together 21 (9 women and 12 men, who include 2 wheelchair users) committed physiotherapists, special educators, wheelchair service providers, and community facilitators serving under-served communities from Chhattisgarh and Nepal .
The training aligned with the WHO Guidelines, reflects a strong multidisciplinary and inclusive approach to strengthening person-centred wheelchair service delivery.
Key areas covered:
> 24-hour positioning techniques
> Postural assessment for children and adults
> Selecting appropriate seating systems
> Applying the World Health Organization wheelchair provision process
> Practical skills for manual wheelchairs with cushions and postural supports
> Preventing secondary complications such as pressure sores, scoliosis, and contractures
> Customization, fitting, and user training
> Repairs, maintenance, and follow-up
