Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre - WRRC

Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre - WRRC 25 Year old NGO working towards conservation of urban wildlife & welfare of captive elephants through rescue, rehabilitation & advocacy

The Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre (WRRC) registered in July 1999 is a registered public charitable Trust for the conservation and welfare of wildlife rescued from urban and rural areas around Bangalore, India. WRRC was set up by the trustees of Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA) in response to keenly felt need to provide relief to wild animals, birds and reptiles including medical f

acilities, housing and handling cases of cruelties inflicted on them. These animals are often injured, abused or are confiscated from illegal trade. Concerned members of the public have very few options for housing or treatment of such species. Expertise for their management and rehabilitation is also lacking.

Bees are among nature’s most important pollinators, supporting wild plants, forests, crops, and entire ecosystems.

Protecting bees means protecting biodiversity itself, so let's do our part!🌼🌿

From tiny, dependent babies to playful young macaques learning life within a troop. 🐒🌿

With more space to climb, socialise, explore, and even splash around in their water tubs, they are slowly growing more confident, independent, and wild again.

Rehabilitation is not just about rescue, it is about giving wildlife the chance to rediscover natural behaviours and live as they were meant to.

Support us in our rehabilitation work by donating or passively sponsoring a Macaque. Write to us at [email protected] to know more!

This is how our citizens come together, to look out for our wildlife and get them the help they need in times of distress.

Thanks to the citizen's proactivity, the Macaque received timely treatment, and is now back in its natural habitat, along with its troop.

As temperatures rise, urban wildlife faces a significant increase in heatstroke and dehydration. You can help by placing shallow earthen water bowls in shaded areas like balconies or terraces. If you encounter an animal in distress, avoid pouring water directly on them or forcing them to drink; instead, move them to a cool, shaded spot and immediately reach out to professionals for help.

Habitats do more than just shelter wildlife- they regulate temperature, retain moisture, and help absorb carbon dioxide, creating more stable environments for both our wildlife and humans.

During summer, these natural systems become even more critical. As green cover reduces, heat intensifies, water sources dry up, and wildlife is pushed into increasingly difficult conditions.

Protecting habitats is one of the most effective ways to support wildlife. Small actions can help protect entire ecosystems- so let us do our part to preserve existing green spaces.

Slender Lorises face several threats like habitat loss, illegal capture, black magic and displacement. This one was lucky to have been rescued in time and released back to its natural habitat in good health.

We were delighted to host this group of young minds for an engaging outreach session focused on wildlife awareness, rescue, and coexistence. Interactions like these help nurture curiosity, compassion, and a deeper understanding of our ecosystem from an early age.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Executive Director of Bannerghatta Biological Park and their outreach team for facilitating this visit and bringing these children to engage with us.

Creating future wildlife ambassadors begins with conversations today!

Are you a good neighbor to our city's wild residents? 🐾🏙️

We share our streets, trees, and skies with incredible wildlife- from the birds soaring above to the macaques in our parks. But city life isn't always easy for them.

Small changes in our daily habits can prevent injuries and save lives. Here's a simple checklist to help you co-exist safely with our urban wild neighbors.
