Avian Society of India ASI is first all India level society on birds. Primary goal being Education. Because of this simple reason humans celebrate birds in poetry and in songs.

Everyone who becomes interested in birds is to be wondered by its rich and enjoyable songs, plumage patterns and behavior and it will be carried through for the rest of his/her life time. Just like to the family and the society we have deep emotional relationship with the nature and especially with birds. Birds occupy an important place in the Indian culture; unlike other cultures we have never tr

eated our feathered friends mainly as table-birds. It is believed to be human beings started keeping tamed birds before four thousand years back. Now we spend hours providing food, shelter and water for birds, buy dozens of books to enlarge their knowledge and understanding of birds and travel long distances in order to see as many as birds as possible. The art of keeping and breeding of birds is termed as ‘aviculture’ and it is well developed in the western world. Right now the aviculture is generally focused on not only the raising and breeding of birds, but also preservation of its habitat and public awareness campaigns. Apart from this one must know how to choose and pursue your study of birds, you need to correctly identify the species, ascertain their s*x, proper care and breeding habits. In this regards the ‘Avian Society of India’ is launched. This is a nonprofit organization registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1960 and the rules framed there under. It has an initial presence in 11 states and will soon expand further. ASI is mainly an organization of the dedicated people in education and conservation of birds and other faunas. It also covers breeding, exhibiting and , enjoyment of the birds and other fauna. The dissemination of avicultural information, to organize events such as workshops, seminars, exhibition on birds and create a general awareness for conservation and promotion of hygienic and scientific methods for the keeping, feeding and breeding of aviary birds and other faunas. ASI will also register the faunas to help its members keep a track and help pair birds. This registry will provide s*x, family tree and other info which provide valuable information to breeders. The development of aviculture techniques, which may be used directly or indirectly to assist the conservation of birds and other faunas in their natural habitat; the establishment Conservation Breeding Centre’s for viable captive breeding populations of all suitable species, especially rare and endangered species etc. are a few of the major aims and objective of the society”.
