A 2012 study published in the Journal of Consumer Research showed that a low-to-moderate level of ambient noise in a place like a cafeteria (or in a coworking office set up) can actually boost your creative output. The idea is that if you’re very slightly distracted from the task at hand by ambient stimuli, it boosts your abstract thinking ability, which can lead to more creative idea generation.

We are now seeing a steady flow of enquiries and interests from many who have worked from home for almost the entire year in 2020. With Covid-19 safety norms strictly in place, we haven't had (touch-wood 😊) anyone of our coworkers falling sick or reporting health concerns.

WorkMatterz has been helping Rise Against Hunger India organize their volunteering activities by offering space, and by coordinating their virtual volunteering events. It is learning and fun together while doing some good for others.

We have designed a number of activities that you can do as a volunteer from the comfort of your home and from your desktop, mobile, tab, or laptop.
- Designing, writing, editing communications materials (suggestive topics will be given)
- Artwork, picture of collage on hunger/food topics
- Technology Development –app development, tech solutions for food storage and safety
- Story and picture of a hunger hero they know of
- Creating social media content creation (picture, video, story, stats)
- Audio-video material on food storage, food waste, etc.
- Organize a food campaign to support people who need food and send us a video, story of your experience
- Online research on hunger issues in the Districts we are planning to focus on for our future sustainable livelihood work.

After carefully studying the guidance and circulars issued by the Central and State Governments, WorkMatterz Coworking Space will reopen from Monday May 4, 2020. We are currently making the required arrangements such as cleaning, sanitizing, etc to ensure that we apply all official safety & hygiene precautionary measures as advised by the government.

Although the lock-down has been extended till May 17, private offices will be allowed to operate with reduced strength as per the guidelines issued by the government.

There are several restrictions that need to be followed and new methods that we will need to adapt to once we are back. Here are few operational guidelines for our coworking clients :

1. Everyone is required to wear a mask at all times
2. Arogya Setu app has to be downloaded & installed on your mobile phone and must be on continuously
3. Social distancing is to be maintained at all times. We have rearranged furniture and sitting arrangements to ensure this however, clients are advised that they do not stand close to each other in any place – 6 feet distance between people is a must!
4. We will be placing contact-less thermal scanners at the doors (anyone who comes in with fever as recorded on the scanner will need to leave immediately)
5. Sanitizers will be kept in multiple places – please sanitize your hands as often as possible
6. We will be cleaning all common surfaces several times a day – the pantry counter, cutlery, microwave, handles on bathroom doors & other common doors, taps, etc
7. For those who have been using cabins, arrangements are being made for only one or two sit inside (depending on the size of the cabin), while others can sit in the open area. We have made the required arrangements
8. Lift should be avoided as much as possible - as there is very little space to maintain distance.

In view of the increase in the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and in line with the advisory issued by the Government authorities, WorkMatterz Coworking Space will remain closed till March 31, 2020.

We realise that this might cause some inconvenience but, in the light of the prevailing situation, the safety of our clients and staff is of utmost importance to us. It would be best for all of us to stay home and limit our exposure to the virus.

We thank all our coworking partners for their full understanding and cooperation in these difficult times. We hope this phase will be over soon and things will be back to normal. But till then, let's take utmost precautions to protect ourselves and our dear ones from the deadly virus.

It's time for everyone to be careful and take precautions and prevent from spreading. WorkMatterz puts the safety and well-being of its customers, staff, clients and coworkers on top of everything. Over the past few days, we closed the office premises and conducted a thorough cleaning process including disinfecting the chairs, desks, furniture and all surface areas. We have also posted Coronavirus advisory issued by the Government of India and educated our teams on personal hygiene and hand-washing. The bio-metric features are being deactivated for some time. We thank all the coworkers and clients who are using our space for their full cooperation as we try our best to create a safe work environment for everyone.
