πŸ“’ Promoting Mental Health Awareness at St Xavier's School! 🌈

We are excited to share that the Ripples of Change Foundation (ROCF), in collaboration with the National Mental Health Programme (NMHP), Department of Health & Family Welfare, Sikkim, organized a highly impactful one-day programme on Mental Health Awareness & Needs Assessment at St Xaviers School, Pakyong, Sikkim on 27th July '23.

A heartfelt thank you to the enthusiastic participation of 240 students from Grade 9, 10 & 11. Your openness to learning and discussing mental health topics shows the immense potential of the young generation in fostering a compassionate and supportive community.

We are thrilled to share that the Ripples of Change Foundation (ROCF), in collaboration with the National Mental Health Programme (NMHP), Department of Health & Family Welfare, Sikkim, successfully conducted a one-day programme on Mental Health Awareness & Needs Assessment at Dikiling Senior Secondary School on 26th July '23.

A big thank you to the 170 bright and engaged students of Grade 9 & 10 who actively participated in this crucial event. Your willingness to learn and grow is inspiring!

🌟Mental Health Awareness Program🌟

We are thrilled to announce that the National Mental Health Programme (NMHP), organized by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Sikkim in collaboration with Ripples of Change Foundation (ROCF), conducted an enlightening one-day awareness program on Mental Health Awareness & Needs Assessment for general public at the Additional District Collector (Development) Office Conference Hall, Pakyong complex on 25th July.

Dr. Madan M. Dhakal, Joint Director, State Programme Office, delivered a powerful message to the audience, emphasizing the significance of self-mind control and maintaining balance in our mental health. His advice on adopting a positive outlook and seeking professional help when needed struck a chord with everyone present.

Dr. Kuljan Lama, Medical Officer, shed light on the importance of mental health and provided invaluable suggestions to cope with life's stresses. He highlighted that mental disorders are more common among males aged 30 to 49, urging us to be mindful of our well-being during these critical years. Furthermore, he reminded us of the immense power of compassion in aiding those facing medical problems.

Dr. Bhawani Hari Kishan, the Resource Person and Project State Head for ROCF, shared effective stress management tips to lead a healthy and happier life, captivating the entire gathering with his expertise and insights.

The participants were also introduced to a range of stress-relieving exercises, including human knots, ground techniques, and leaves on the stem. These exercises empowered everyone to incorporate practical techniques into their daily lives.

🌟 Exciting Announcement!

Ripples of Change Foundation (ROCF), Heartfulness Institute (HFI) and Kateel Ashok Pai Memorial Institute (KAPMI) – an entity of Manasa Hospital, have joined forces to advance mental health support and awareness in communities. The MOU was signed on July 12th, 2023, at Shimoga. πŸ€πŸ»πŸ’š

As part of our commitment, ROCF and HFI are running the "Voice that Cares" program, a free helpline available 7 days a week. It offers psychosocial first aid (PSFA) support to individuals through trained volunteers. Established in 2021, "Voice that Cares" has already reached over 10,000 beneficiaries across 28 states of India with over 56,000 PSFA calls so far. πŸ“žπŸ—£οΈπŸ€—

KAPMI will play a vital role in strengthening the program by providing volunteering, mentoring, and counseling support. ROCF and HFI will serve as implementation partners, managing the helpline's operations and ensuring quality services. Together, we aim to create a robust support system for mental health, fostering a resilient community. πŸ™Œ

Voice that Care is a public, volunteer run helpline, operating in Hindi, English and Telugu. We provide free Psycho-Social First Aid (PSFA) to people in distress i.e. anxiety, stress, anger, fear, guilt, sleeplessness, etc.
Call VTC at our helpline number 8448-8448-45 on all days of the week from 9 am to 9 pm and speak to more than 250 trained counsellors. It's free of cost and confidential.
We listen to you as your true friend and do not judge you.

had a successful month of January. Our English language volunteer skill-building training attracted 25 participants, and we're happy to welcome 10 new volunteers. Furthermore, we held a refresher session on sleep disorders with 33 participants. Our community is benefiting from our combined efforts!
