Think about the last time you went to a restaurant, took a cab, or visited a doctor. Now imagine each of those required an hour or two of extra planning and a phone call to check if you can even get in. You may even be told it's accessible. You show up, and it's not. There's a step at the entrance, no accessible washroom, or a staff member who doesn't know what to do.
For millions of persons with disabilities, that's a regular day, leaving them with no option but to navigate systems that were designed without even considering their needs. Truth is, it doesn't really have to be this way. Quality of life improves when systems, and all of us, do our part, so people don't have to fight for what should already be theirs.
