Rise Against Hunger India

Rise Against Hunger India Rise Against Hunger envisions a world without hunger. Rise Against Hunger India envisions a world without hunger.

Its mission is to nourish lives, empower communities, respond to emergencies and build a movement for hunger action. Our mission is to nourish lives, empower communities, respond to emergencies and build a movement towards positive action by everyone to end hunger. While communities work toward a future in which they can thrive, vulnerable families and individuals still face hardship to meet their

basic, immediate needs. That’s why Rise Against Hunger India supports safety net programs that provide nourishment, as well as additional skills training or services that support the difficult journey out of poverty. Fortified nutritious meals and supplements are provided in schools to encourage increased enrolment and attendance. Meals distributed in hospitals and clinics supplement nutritional needs of patients recovering from TB, Cancer, HIV/AIDS and complement their treatments. For community empowerment programs, Rise Against Hunger India focuses on sustainable food security through community-based projects on climate smart agriculture, land and soil management, food production, storage and marketing, introduction of new technologies for small farmers. With these efforts, the aim is to increase agricultural production and incomes through programs promoting improved agricultural methods, business skills, and market access. We work with smallholder farmers to build resilience to the shocks and stresses of climate change by promoting ecological approaches to agriculture as well as diversification. Our recent SAMBAL Initiative aims to support rural households in hunger pockets in the country through farm and non-farm interventions. VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT

No single agency or government can end hunger alone, and it will take everyone to make this a movement. Backed by a strong belief that anyone from anywhere, regardless of their age, gender, qualification can take action and make a positive difference in the fight against hunger, we have a range of volunteering initiatives that are open to all. Even seemingly small contributions can add up to a BIG impact. During emergencies such as flood, landslides, earthquake and health pandemic like COVID-19 Rise Against Hunger India organizes food relief, drinking water, basic health and hygiene kits, family support kits, livelihood assistance to the affected families. Between 2015 and 2022, Rise Against Hunger India has served 2.4 million people in 22 States across the country through multiple projects. With the help of 50,064 volunteers 23.5 million micronutrient rich fortified meals have been served to various groups through a network of more than 274 field partners and NGOs. Our recent initiatives in rural and indigenous food insecure pockets, we have established field offices and cluster units where our teams are directly working with in about 120 villages in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, AP, Bihar, Jharkhand and WB to acheive sustainable food and nutrition security

A meaningful beginning for something bigger ♻️💓

Today marked the start of a new step forward, as we came together for the Bhumi Pujan and foundation stone ceremony of our Plastic Handling Centre and Warehouse in Channasandra, Bangalore.

This facility, initiated by Rise Against Hunger India, will support the collection, processing, and recycling of used meal packets , helping us move towards more responsible and sustainable practices.

It was a proud and fulfilling moment for all of us to be there and witness the beginning.

A visit to to support the team with the Life Skills sessions for children.❤️

With changes in staff, the focus was on helping the current teachers understand the modules, assessments, and reporting, so they feel confident taking the sessions forward.

These small follow-ups help ensure that the learning continues smoothly for the children.

What happens after a meal matters just as much as the meal itself.❤️

Through our initiative on optimising meal usage and meal packet recycling, we are working closely with partners to ensure that nutrition reaches people effectively, while also reducing waste and being mindful of the environment.

From how meals are prepared and consumed, to how packaging is handled and returned, every step plays an important role in building a more responsible system.

It’s about doing it better, together.
