This week, we celebrated 25 years of Christel House India in Bengaluru.

What began in 2001 with 320 students and one school has grown into four schools, thousands of students and alumni, and a community of people committed to changing what is possible for children.

But this milestone is not really about buildings or numbers.

It is about people.

Our staff. Our parents. Our donors and partners. Our Board. Our students and alumni.

People who believed. People who stayed. People who kept showing up.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of our first 25 years.

Now we build the next 25.

Christel House India began with 320 students in one Bengaluru school. Today, four schools serve over 3,500 students and thousands of alumni are building futures beyond the classroom.

The next chapter is about reaching more children: opening more schools in more regions across India, strengthening government partnerships, deepening corporate collaboration and maintaining the quality and long-term support that define the Christel House model.

Thank you to the students, families, alumni, teachers, staff, Board members, governments, donors, volunteers, partners and friends who made the first 25 years possible.

This milestone is not a finish line. It is a launching point.

Teaching at Christel House India means more than delivering a syllabus.

Across Bengaluru, Atal Nagar, Pune and Thane, students are supported by teachers, counsellors, nurses, social workers, Admissions & Community Development teams and College & Career teams.

Their work can mean adapting a lesson, supporting a family's access to services, helping a student through a difficult period, arranging healthcare, guiding a graduate towards scholarships or connecting them to a job opportunity.

The model is integrated on paper.

These are the people who make that integration real every day.

When Prabhu joined Christel House at nine years old, a high-quality education had previously felt beyond his family's financial reach.

Over time, stability and opportunity changed the scale of what he could imagine for himself.

He completed a B.Com, followed by a Master's degree in International Business in Estonia.

Today, he works in Singapore as a Vendor Manager in Compliance at Wise, in a career that has taken him to more than 35 countries.

Prabhu also continues to give back financially and advocate for Christel House.

His journey captures the long view of education: not only where a student starts, but the economic mobility, confidence and choices that become possible over time.

Christel House India has one core admissions criterion: evidence of poverty.

Children are not selected because they already demonstrate academic ability or talent.

The Admissions & Community Development team begins the process months before the school year, assessing household circumstances through home visits and verification, with final cases reviewed by the school's admission committee.

It is a rigorous process designed around equity: reaching children whose access to high-quality education would otherwise be constrained by poverty.

The same team then continues working with families and communities after admission, helping build the wider support a child needs to succeed.

Sylvia Charles is Christel House India's first alumnus to pursue a doctorate.

After an Honours degree in Biology, she completed a Master's in Biotechnology and topped her course.

Today, she is pursuing a PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Bath in the UK, combining her science background with engineering and research.

She is also actively involved in teaching and mentoring students, particularly women in science.

Sylvia's journey reflects something we hope every student carries beyond school: the confidence to keep expanding what they believe is possible - and to create more possibility for others along the way.

Long before the first lesson begins, the Christel House Bengaluru kitchen is already at work.

At 6:00 AM, a 25-person team is preparing the day's meals: breakfast, lunch and an evening snack with milk.

The operation is built around quality, hygiene and nutritional value. Fresh ingredients are inspected daily, and a Food Committee made up of staff and student leaders regularly reviews the meals and provides feedback.

Satish Ahuja has been part of this work since 2003. He now oversees kitchen operations across all four Christel House India schools.

It is a behind-the-scenes part of the model, but an essential one.

A child who is well fed has one less barrier between them and learning.

At Christel House India, nutrition and healthcare are built into the school day.

Students receive breakfast, lunch and an evening snack with milk. Menus are scientifically planned by age group to meet 75-80% of daily nutritional needs and have been reviewed against Indian Council of Medical Research standards.

Students also undergo periodic comprehensive health checks through hospital partners, covering hearing, vision, dermatology, dental care and immunisations, with necessary treatments provided free of cost.

For many children, being able to arrive in class healthy, nourished and ready to focus is an essential part of educational opportunity.

Christel House India works with students, and with the families and communities around them.

Parent & community engagement includes workshops, basic financial literacy, skill development, support accessing government welfare programmes, parenting guidance and community outreach.

Parents are also encouraged to volunteer 40 hours each year at the school so that they can engage more closely with teachers and their child's learning environment.

The objective is not to keep school and home as two separate worlds.

It is to build a stronger network around the child.

Chandrakala's daughter joined Christel House for an education.

The impact did not stop with her daughter.

With education, healthcare and nutrition supported, pressure on the household eased. Christel House India's Admissions & Community Development team also helped Chandrakala train as an autorickshaw driver, obtain her licence and access support to procure her own vehicle.

Today, she earns a sustainable income transporting schoolchildren and passengers across the city and is able to save for her daughter's future.

This is what family engagement can look like in practice: strengthening the environment around the child as well as the child herself.
