It starts with a smile.

A book in hand.
A story waiting to unfold.
A child realizing this world belongs to them too.

In Yadgir and Raichur, moments like these are beginning to take shape- one book at a time.

But here’s what that also means.
For every child holding a book today, many more are still waiting. Not because they don’t want to read, but because access hasn’t reached them yet.

This isn’t just about giving books. It’s about building a habit, growing confidence, and creating space for curiosity to thrive.

So far, we’ve reached 220 books.
But we still need 1,280 more to get closer to where we want to be.

If this stayed with you, even for a moment, that’s enough to act.

Here’s how you can help:
₹85 = 1 storybook → one child finds their voice
₹510 = 6 storybooks → six new beginnings
₹1,020 = 12 storybooks → twelve children stepping into possibility
₹2,125 = 25 storybooks → a small group discovering a whole new world.

Or share this with someone who’d love to see a child’s curiosity turn into a smile.

Meet Kavitha Kanchibhatta,

As the Content & Pedagogy Developer behind OBLF's English Language Program (ELP), she came in with one clear purpose — to make English practical and usable for participants preparing to step into teaching roles themselves.

For Kavitha, designing content that serves real situations has been meaningful from the very beginning. And watching participants grow from hesitation to confidently performing short plays in English at the culmination ceremony showed her exactly why.

Watch her story.

There's something magical about watching someone discover their own voice. When nervous hands become steady, and words spoken resonate with everyone.

This week, the participants of OBLF's Accelerated English Language Program proved exactly that. They stepped onto the stage with confidence that seemed impossible just months ago.

What began as hesitant sentences transformed into articulate presentations, spontaneous laughter, and humor-filled skits that had the room in stitches.

But the real prize? Watching family members beam with pride. Seeing peer support turn strangers into cheerleaders. Witnessing the exact moment someone realizes: "I can do this!"

What the ELP program endeavored toward were moments when someone realizes their potential; when they realize they don’t have to be limited by circumstance. Every participant who spoke up, stumbled gracefully, and kept going—they're rewriting their own story.

Our heartfelt gratitude to for their support. You help us level the playing field and ensure access to learning, opportunities and growth for everyone.

OBLF Summer Camp is in Full Swing!

Our Education team is running a summer camp bringing together government school students across the Gurugunta cluster in Raichur, Karnataka.

Over 150 government school students from Grades 1-7 are coming together each day, making the most of their holidays through learning and creativity.

With engaging sessions in Mathematics, English, and Arts & Crafts, and a team of dedicated teachers leading the way, the camp is full of energy, curiosity, and joy.

At a time when most summer programs come with a fee, this initiative is ensuring that every child has access to meaningful learning with no barriers.

Somewhere in Yadgir & Raichur, children are brimming with excitement as they eagerly wait to open up their first storybook. A book that was not within their reach a few weeks ago.

That’s what this community has already made possible. And we thank you for this.

But here’s the thing…we’re still far from our goal, from where we want to be.

1,500 books. That’s the goal. A growing reading culture. That’s the bigger picture.

We request you to step in, take charge. Be the reason one more child discovers their first story.

On the occasion of World Health Day and International Day of Wellbeing, OBLF, in partnership with the Vanakanahalli Grama Panchayat and the Taluka Health Office, Anekal, organized SAMPADA – Community Health Awareness Program in Vanakanahalli.

The event brought together purpose and participation — where students stepped in as community educators, leading sessions on diabetes, hypertension, nutrition, and prevention. Health concepts were broken down into simple, relatable messages by children, for their families and neighbors.

Student-led thematic stations on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), nutrition, and prevention.

Interactive demonstrations, skits, and discussions supported by OBLF community health workers.

Collaboration with community members, NSS volunteers, ASHAs, teachers, and public health partners.

Through SAMPADA, OBLF continues to create spaces where children don’t just learn about health, they lead conversations that influence everyday choices at home and beyond.

We’re grateful to the Vanakanahalli Panchayat, OBLF Community health workers, volunteers, and every young educator who made this initiative possible.

Meet Kavitha D.

She began her journey at OBLF as a teacher. Over the years, through dedication and a willingness to grow, she moved into her current role as a trainer. That journey itself says everything about who she is.

For Kavitha, ELP has never been a one way street.

"Each session brings new learning, not only for the participants but also for me as a trainer," she says.

That openness to keep learning alongside the people she teaches is what makes her stand out.

Watch her story.

OBLF signed an with the Institute of Public Health, Bengaluru, to strengthen research and evidence-based programming.

A unique element of the partnership is to create a nuanced and deeper understanding on evolving community needs and aspirations, and its reflection into public health policymaking.

We thank the Institute of Public Health, Bengaluru, for this partnership and their support.

OBLF's Geriatric & Palliative Care team recently participated in a state-level assessment (NQAS) conducted at Marsur Primary Health Center.

The assessment evaluated key aspects of the facility, including hygiene and cleanliness, biomedical waste management, drug storage, medication quality checks, and the knowledge and competency of healthcare staff.

As part of the evaluation, our GPC team presented and explained OBLF's Geriatric & Palliative Care program to the assessors, highlighting the work being done at the community level.

Participation in assessments like NQAS reflects our commitment to accountability, quality care, and strengthening primary healthcare systems from the ground up.

Meet Baby.

She joined the Accelerated English Language Program (ELP) with a focus on strengthening sessions through engaging activities and helping create a space where learning could thrive.

But along the way, it became something far more meaningful.
Because the people in that room changed everything.

Participants showed up with busy lives and real challenges, yet still brought enthusiasm, commitment, and a genuine desire to learn every single day. That kind of dedication is something you don’t anticipate. It’s something that moves you.

Watch her story.
