Namaskara UVCEians,
For many years, the old block of the hostel was a concern raised by many alumni- who have an emotional connection and bonding. Last year, we had taken up the water-proofing of the roof at a cost of around 3Lakhs. This year we took it further by completely renovating the 50 rooms (exterior and interior), and the entire structure along with painting. We have also installed a Water Filter near the cafeteria space. The total cost of the project is around 16.5 Lakhs (of course we are not putting a price on all the love and affection of the alumni community).

We want to "Hand Over The Renovated Hostel" to college administration in a formal event and we wish to have your presence amongst us. Here is the invitation with the details.

From shaping India’s space missions to strengthening aerospace research in the country — the journey of Dr. T. S. Prahlada is truly inspiring.

A proud UVCE alumnus and former Director of NAL, he has contributed to major space programmes like SLV-3, PSLV, GSLV, and more. His work also played a role in aircraft like HANSA, NAL Saras, and the Light Combat Aircraft.

Beyond his achievements, what stands out is his leadership — transforming NAL into a stronger and more unified institution.

Honored with the Padma Shri and the H. K. Firodia Award, Dr. Prahlada remains a source of inspiration for young engineers and the entire UVCE community.

A legacy that continues to motivate generations.

We had published this article in Sampada-33, where 2 of our alumni speak about the BTS (Bangalore Transport Service) and specially about Route No 11, which started its journey from Gandhi bazaar in Basavanagudi till Tata Institute (now Indian Institute of Science) on Malleshwaram 18th cross via UCE (now UVCE)..

A proud alumnus of UVCE, Dr. Aatre rose to become one of India’s most respected scientists and leaders in defence research. As the former head of DRDO, he played a defining role in advancing India’s scientific strength and self-reliance in defence technology. He later served as the Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister of India until 2004, contributing significantly to the country’s strategic scientific vision.

His immense contributions to India’s defence research and scientific progress earned him the prestigious Padma Bhushan (2000) and Padma Vibhushan (2016).

His exceptional service and achievements earned him two of India’s highest honours:
🏆 Padma Bhushan in 2000
🏆 Padma Vibhushan in 2016

His journey is a shining example of what dedication, knowledge, and purpose can achieve.

For the UVCE family, his success is a matter of immense pride — a reminder that the institution has, for generations, shaped individuals who go on to serve society and the nation at the highest levels.
We are privileged to have him amongst us for multiple events in the recent past - Utthirna, Scholarship Award Ceremony 2025, Special Lecture for UVCE students etc and encouraged the future generations of UVCEians

Dr. N. Seshagiri was a pioneer who helped lay the foundation of India’s IT revolution.

As the Founder Director General of the National Informatics Centre (NIC), he led the development of NICNET, the nationwide computer network that connected government offices across India and enabled early e-governance initiatives.

He also played a crucial role in shaping India’s technology policies in the 1980s and was instrumental in establishing the Software Technology Parks of India, which later helped India emerge as a global software leader.💻

Dr. Seshagiri authored several books and research papers and devoted his life to advancing technology for national development.

For his remarkable contributions, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 2005.
His vision and leadership continue to inspire India’s journey toward a digitally empowered future.

Today at the UVCE Senate Hall, celebrated the bright future of 72 talented students! 🎓 From laptops to merit scholarships, we distributed ₹14 Lakhs to fuel the next generation of engineers.

🌸 In honor of , we sat down with three icons of the UVCE family and got an opportunity to hear them share their thoughts on:
🚀 Anuradha TK (Batch of 1982): Retired Program Director at ISRO on passion and curiosity.
💼 Ms. Uma Reddy (Batch of 1984): President of FKCCI and MD of Hitech Magnetics on the 5 golden rules of entrepreneurship.
💻 Viji Ranganna (Batch of 1992): Director at Google on innovation and discipline.

Their message to the students? "Stay curious, pursue passion with discipline, and embrace innovation with resilience."

With over ₹1 Crore awarded in the last 15 years, the bond between UVCE and its alumni has never been stronger. 💪✨
