Hope you all had a great Independence Day Celebration on 15th !!

As you all await for the 200th edition, we had to publish Sampada-199, in order to reach the 200th milestone. So, here is the latest edition of Sampada, just one away from the mark.

Meanwhile, to make Sampada-200 memorable, we are going to print the hardcopy. We intend to manage the costs with advertisements and wishes. If you or anyone you know are interested to help, please let us know. The soft copy will be shared with more than 8000+ alumni around the globe and more than 2000+ students. We are glad to inform that 2001 Batch of UVCE celebrated their Silver Jubilee Reunion on 18th July at UVCE, K R Circle.
More than 80 alumni of the batch attended this event and had an amazing time at the campus. They had invited and honored the faculty members who had taught them during the 4 years of the college. It was heart-warming to listen to the stories from those days and cherishing those memories. They interacted with a few students and also visited the MARVEL UVCE lab.
After the mandatory group photo in the Quadrangle, we moved to the Century Club for informal networking and lunch. Everyone appreciated the custom-made mementos for the event..

Almost everyone registered to become "Life-member" of UVCE Graduates Association. We thank them and hope that they join hands in making the alumni community stronger and "Giving Back to UVCE" !!
Congratulations to everyone on completing the 25 years of graduation !!

We had the 6th AGM of UVCE Graduates Association successfully conducted. Around 70 alumni members from across batches were present. They were informed about the initiatives taken up, financials, proposed plan & budget for the upcoming year. Required approvals were taken by the general body.
We had both our Advisors - Dr V K Aatre sir and Maj Gen Neelakantappa sir also present with us.
After AGM, the new Executive Committee for the year 2026-28 was announced by the Returning Officer KAMESH puliyur and informed that they were elected unanimously.

We also had the privilege to have one of the senior-most alumni, BVA Rao from 1956 batch join us during the AGM. He handed over a cheque of 2Lakhs to the President towards the initiatives of UVCEGA. We whole-heartedly thank him for the generosity and will discuss with him about the utilization of the funds.
After the SGM, everyone had lunch and interacted with each other. It was a Sunday well-spent !!

UVCE MeetNGreet at BDA’s Tree Plantation Initiative

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has launched one of the city’s most ambitious green initiatives to combat rising urban heat and shrinking green cover.
Key highlights:

1. Massive Scale & Record Aim: BDA is driving a Guinness World Record attempt by planting 15 lakh native saplings across Bengaluru. The main plantation was timed for World Environment Day, June 5, with efforts extending to 10 days. A similar large drive of 15 lakh saplings is also planned on June 27 to mark Kempe Gowda Jayanti.

2. Huge number of saplings: A few lakh saplings are planned for Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout located in West Bengaluru near Kengeri Satellite town.

3. Community Participation: The drive expects 10,000 to 20,000 volunteers, including students, NGOs, residents, and environmental groups. Invitations have gone to schools, colleges, and volunteer groups citywide.

4. Ecological Focus: Planting isn’t limited to BDA layouts — it covers other parts of Bengaluru needing green cover. The focus is on native tree species to boost ecological sustainability and long-term survival.

5. Purpose: The initiative directly responds to Bengaluru’s rising temperatures and the Urban Heat Island effect caused by rapid urbanisation and tree cover loss. It aims to increase biodiversity, improve air quality, support groundwater recharge, and create healthier public spaces.

Impact: Beyond numbers, this drive is about climate resilience, citizen engagement, and restoring Bengaluru’s “Garden City” identity. Survival rates for urban plantings in Bengaluru have been strong — above 90% — with plans to plant up to 10 crore saplings in Bengaluru alone to address heatwave conditions.

We are glad to inform that along with UVCE, we felicitated one of its most illustrious alumni –Shatavadhani Dr Ganesh – on being conferred with Padma Bhushan award at “UVCE Parva” event held on campus today.

Dr. Ganesh, an alumnus of UVCE’s 1984 Mechanical Engineering batch, is one of India’s foremost scholars, polyglots, poets, and practitioners of the ancient art of Avadhana. A leading force behind the revival of Karnataka’s Ashtavadhana and Shatavadhana traditions, he has demonstrated his extraordinary prowess through more than 1,300 avadhana performances in Kannada, Sanskrit, Telugu, and Prakrit.

Dr Ganesh addressed the gathering and thanked his alma-mater for the precision and analytical ability he was able to develop during his engineering days. He quoted Prof Hiriyanna, saying” The purpose of education is not to inform minds, but form minds”.

We are proud to announce that our alma-mater, UVCE has now 8 Padma Awardees in its “Hall of Fame”.

We are glad to inform that along with our alma-mater UVCE, we are organizing a felicitation programme to honour Shri Dr Shatavadhani Ganesh on being conferred Padma Bhushan award recently.

It is an immense pride to entire UVCE fraternity to get an opportunity to congratulate him on this historic achievement.
"UVCE Parva" will be organized at the college campus at K R Circle on 9th of June and we invite more alumni to participate in it and make it memorable.

A long standing issue at UVCE has been the lack of cleanliness of the drinking water facility within the campus. Students had kept mentioning it to us multiple times.

After repeated efforts, we got the permission to get the water purifier at UVCE serviced and restored for the students to use by spending around 30K. After the Hostel restoration, one more step towards supporting the basic facilities needed for students has been taken up by UVCE Graduates Association.

Again, its not about the cost or expense, but the love of the alumni towards the alma-mater and the concern towards the students well-being. Hope this will be utilized in a proper manner.
