All of us have a bigger purpose.

One that goes beyond ourselves into the life of a child who's waiting for someone to believe in them.

That's what U&I volunteers do every single weekend. They show up. They teach English, life skills, and math. They help kids build confidence not just for school, but for college, career, and life.

Just 2.5 hours. Every weekend. That's all it takes to change a story.

30 girls. 30 dreams. And limited access to the resources to help them grow.
When Aastha walked into U&I's center in Hubli, that stayed with her.
She decided to do something about it and she didn't have to do it alone.
Her volunteers came together and ran life skills sessions across age groups:
Road safety & health and hygiene. Content creation & understanding social media mindfully. Digital literacy.
Every session was built on one belief: these kids deserve to be prepared for the world ahead.
If you're in Hubli-Dharwad, and want to be part of something like this, we'd love to have you.

She's partially visually impaired. She used to fear speaking in a crowd. On graduation day, she stood up and read a two-page Braille note, out loud, about becoming an IAS officer.

That didn't happen overnight. It happened one Sunday at a time.

A volunteer shared their fears first. She felt safe enough to share hers. And then, week by week, she started working through them. That's what showing up looks like.

Your Sundays can do this too. Volunteer with U&I.

As a child growing up in a shelter home, Roopa didn't have big dreams. The world she knew was small. The possibilities she could imagine were even smaller.

But there were people who showed up for her every week.

U&I volunteers didn't just help her with academics. They answered her endless questions, encouraged her curiosity, shared stories from their own lives, and helped her see a world beyond her immediate circumstances.

One summer, a simple drawing book sparked something in her. She began sketching characters, exploring art, and discovering a creative side of herself. Years later, that interest would grow into a dream.

Today, Roopa is pursuing Computer Science and building a career in UI/UX design, combining technology with creativity and following a path she genuinely loves.

Her journey is a reminder that impact isn't always immediate.

Sometimes, it looks like a child gaining the confidence to ask one more question.

Sometimes, it looks like a student discovering what they're passionate about.

And sometimes, years later, it looks like someone confidently pursuing a future they once couldn't imagine for themselves.

Your 2.5 hours a week can help shape stories like Roopa's.

Volunteer with U&I. Be the role model a child remembers.

You don't need a perfect reason to start.

Drishti joined U&I to help out a friend. Just two months. That's all she promised herself.

After these many years, She's still here. Taking on responsibilities. Building something real.

"It will challenge you. But at the same time, it will give meaning and purpose in your life."

Still on the fence? That's exactly where Drishti was.

Saad volunteers because he believes every child deserves to be heard, even before they find their voice.
When he met Sahil, a boy so shy he wouldn't say a word even with someone's ear to his mouth, he didn't push. He sang. He shouted. He roamed the shelter, read number plates, and built a world where speaking felt safe.
Before the end of the year, Sahil said three words that broke Saad, "I will go first."
Not just to educate. But to truly show up.
"These kids are learning from us, and we are also learning from them."
If Saad's story moved you, imagine what showing up could do for a child and for yourself.

She joined U&l to help a friend out. She planned to stay only for two months.

Then she met a 13-year-old girl in 4th standard who knew only three letters. That changed everything.

She couldn't leave. Not until she saw her grow. So she made it her personal mission, interviewing 200+ people across Guwahati to find the right teacher for one child.

She found Sagnik, a final year medical student who made a simple promise: "Let me give my best."

He didn't change the child. He changed how he reached her. Stories instead of lessons. Games instead of drills. Patience instead of pressure.

A girl who once struggled with ABC now reads words. Now reads sentences.

"Impact is not about changing the student. It's about changing the way we reach

out to them."

If this story moved you, imagine what showing up could do, for a child, and for yourself.

Anaiga volunteers because she remembers what it felt like to need someone.

After losing her dad at 8, she grew up searching for direction and found her purpose in becoming the adult she never had. For 4 years, she's shown up as a U&I volunteer, pouring empathy, warmth, and love into every kid she meets.

Not just to educate. But to truly care.

"We care for our kids and we make sure that they have dreams too."

If Anaiga's story moved you, imagine what showing up could do for a child, and for yourself.

The greatest celebrity in India can praise you. It still won't feel like your dad saying, "You did well today."
Jemimah Rodrigues said this. And it hit different.

Your words as a parent, a mentor, a figure someone looks up to, they're not just words.
They're water.
Speak life into someone, they grow.
Stay silent or tear them down, they wither.

Be someone's mentor. A role model.
Volunteering applications are now open. Link in Bio.

Jemimah Rodrigues was dropped twice from the Indian cricket team.

Anxiety. Tears. Almost every day on tour.

Her only thought was, India should win today.

And when they did?

She knelt on the ground and wept.

The next day at practice, the South African players, the opposition, walked up and hugged her.

Not for the knock.

But because she had the courage to speak about her struggles openly.

"Your vulnerability can help someone else."

She didn't believe it then.

She does now. And so do thousands of people whose lives she unknowingly changed.

That's what showing up can do.
