Innovation and Science Promotion Foundation

Innovation and Science Promotion Foundation ISPF is a non-profit organisation focused on promoting Innovation and Science, especially amongst children. Inspired by Arvind Gupta Toys.

We learn most when we get our hands dirty: by building, cutting, sticking – pulling things apart and putting things together. This hands-on approach to science and maths engages children and ignites their curiosity while also getting them started on a process of exploration. Innovation and Science Promotion Foundation (ISPF), is a non-profit trust focused on promoting Innovation and Science, espec

ially amongst children. ISPF’s current focus is creating experience-based learning opportunities where science can be learnt using hands-on, interactive experiences and inspire
innovation. ISPF started its first centre, as a pilot, at The Valley School, Kanakapura Road, Bangalore in 2014. ISPF carries out various outreach activities at schools, corporates and community centres across Bangalore. As part of its activities, ISPF curates science toys, experiences and exhibits and makes them available under the Creative Commons Attribution License, allowing anyone to distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon our work. ISPF is founded and funded by a group of largely Bangalore-based professionals. ISPF’s curating activities, experience centres and outreach activities across Bangalore are driven by dedicated staff. ISPF aims in bringing up :

The key concepts out of textbooks into the physical world by making toys. Relate science and maths to things that we encounter in our daily lives.. Help children experience the thrill of innovation - identify a problem, try a solution; if it fails, try something different till you succeed in solving the problem

Showcase innovations (especially grassroots Indian innovations in the areas of health, ecology, building sciences, agriculture, etc.) Create an interest in pursuing science and create open minds; foster curiosity such that they challenge the norm and raise questions

ISPF has curated and developed a large body of knowledge and tools that can be used to promote science by hands-on activities. ISPF is embarking on various outreach programmes to make this available to children in various settings.
