Using theatre science as an application tool for Information and Communication Technology and Vocational Education, CATS is working towards crafting scientific customized facilitating modules based on the needs of the communities and individual skill development; which focuses on the development of each individual to his highest extent and expertise in techniques related to technology, life skills
and image processing to span all aspects of a specific trade. Approach
Our craft vocations are based on customized and practical Theatre Science activities which are generally non-academic but related to a specific trade and occupation wherein the participant directly develops expertise in a particular group of techniques leads to a self-starting, proactive society. Each community has its own idiosyncratic ways to express, register its protest against various forms of oppression and demand justice. Most of the training methodologies however realistic are, will be alien to the community we are addressing. When these communities are encouraged to express their concerns in the language which is their own; it is bound to bring out the real issues to the fore; else, it acts as a major block to the collective expression of the communities and individual concerns.
“THEATRE IS A LANGUAGE OF LANGUAGES”
In the context of the above scenario CATS, using Theatre Science as a communication tool, initiates a process of interaction and collectivization of the target communities, adding strength and capacities to the individual community members to address various issues of concern to the community and to explore solutions to the problems affecting them. Audio-visual mediums of communication are undoubtedly an effective means for conveying ideas. They have always acted as effective change agents in the society and theatre is the major live interactive medium to study Human behaviors and communications. Most of the existing forms of communications like print and electronic media though effective and may lead to intense debates and have dedicated followers; at the same time they effectively prevent all possibilities of interaction among the audience and the readers. Though psychology has created significant milestones in studying, understanding and prediction of human behaviors, it is finding its way in controlling the same. Theatre Science is one such area where one understands and learns the control over one’s emotions and behaviors. Outcome
Facilitation through Theatre Science, does not teach how to be an actor, but how to play a professional role in this rapidly changing technology era. It gives a sense of being able to do something, with certain skills that one has acquired. Facilitation is an encounter with the reality which one has chosen: whatever you do, do it with your whole self. For this reason we talk about facilitation and not training. In simple words, we facilitate our participants to be Social actors. Our participants will be encouraged to apply their understanding in a variety of fields, including corporate communication, self-learning, group facilitation, public relations, personnel, advertising, marketing, law, media, sales, public service, arts, and so on. Sociolabs
Sociolabs are integral part of CATS operation. These activity centers are Interactive Intimate Theatres which serves as social counseling centers or social laboratories for specific location or mass. Each of these activity centers holds the responsibility for social accountability within 2kms radius from its point of operation. What happens here? IIT performances and facilitation programs based on the needs of the local communities which focuses on the semi-irritant problems within the society and individual; will be held on regular basis at these Sociolabs. A detailed Theatre Science based Emotional quotient (Eq) assessment and analysis each participant will be taken, documented and required measures will be taken to upgrade the same.
