THE KARNATAKA WELFARE ASSOCIATION FOR THE BLIND is a Non Governmental Organization that has been serving the visually impaired and other persons with disability since 1967. The Karnataka Welfare Association for the Blind (KWAB) was established in 1967 under the Karnataka Registration of Societies Act 1960. Opportunities mean much more than what we can imagine. Opportunities bring about remarkable
changes particularly in the individuals. Such opportunities provided or secured by the KWAB speak for themselves. During its illustrious tenure, KWAB has played a stellar role in the nurturing and growth of the visually challenged, physically challenged as well as economically deprived able bodies, children and adults by way of quality education and skill development. Since its inception, economic rehabilitation has been the corner stone of its social service activities and its proven track record of having served numerous visually and other disabilities challenged as well as economically deprived children and adults. Over the years, KWAB has initiated social integration measures by imparting right-based education and providing personality development courses to the physically challenged and the underprivileged. This has helped them to overcome challenges of their disability, poverty and illiteracy and achieve intellectual profundity, height in skill development, economic rehabilitation for independence and social integration with capacity to contribute back to society. KWAB’s vision is to become a world-class organization in serving Visually Challenged and other disabled persons and deprived non-disabled persons. We hope to provide quality support services and guidance for the Education Skills Development, Carrier Guidance and ensuring life of their choice, Independence and Self Esteem and Emerge as valued contributing members of the Society.
