15 years of FEED's journy in wildlife conservation and education has seen another successful year 2025. FEED's 2025 transformative achievements in wildlife conservation education, particularly for elephants and birds, through innovative programs that engaged thousands.
Key Achievements
FEED sustained its monthly Friends of Elephants (FoE) events, hosting expert talks on elephant skulls, Anthropocene impacts, conservation challenges in South/Central India and Assam, and human-elephant coexistence, in collaboration with other organizations.
The FEED Calendar 2025 highlighted bird beak diversity to foster public appreciation for avian adaptations and habitats.
Additional highlights include a robust internship program training students from Bangalore University in ecological surveys and outreach, plus school programs on ornithology, Jim Corbett's legacy, and urban awareness on wildlife crime control.
Program Effectiveness
Programs effectively transitioned from in-person to hybrid formats post-COVID, expanding reach with international experts like Prof. Adrian Lister and Dr. Shermin de Silva, ensuring uninterrupted monthly events since 2014.
Interactive audio-visual sessions and panel discussions at schools like Tigulara Hosahalli and Hulibele sparked student curiosity, linking biodiversity to daily life and ethical values.
Technical support to Karnataka Forest Department in Mandya used GPS tracking for real-time elephant monitoring, identifying corridors to cut human-elephant conflicts.
Conservation Impacts
These initiatives sensitized urban residents, rural students, and forest officials, building empathy for elephants amid Karnataka's 6,395 elephant population and 2,500 conflict cases over a decade.
By bridging research, storytelling, and community action, FEED empowered the next generation of conservationists and promoted habitat protection. Positive feedback from participants underscores lasting awareness, urging vigilance against wildlife crime and sustainable coexistence.
