In the Odisha unit, the producers are undergoing the 6Y Training- A capacity-building training program where the key focus is on self-efficacy.

The Gender Module’s objective is to raise consciousness on gender justice and change attitudes and norms related to gender roles. It helps to understand gender inequality to ensure the economic empowerment of women.

The introduction of this training program was well-timed during the Covid pandemic when uncertainty was at an all-time high, our women producers were receiving stipends and training. The training helped them reflect on their identity, needs, wants, rights, responsibilities, and building agency on their journey from survival to sustenance and rise to prosperity.

When it comes to ethical fashion and sustainable fashion wear, India is the key market. And this change is visible with the growing trend of embracing ethical fashion on the part of today's woke buyers and consumers. This rise in the demand for ethical fashion is leading manufacturers to look for the ways and means to achieve these sustainable fashion goals and manufacture their products ethically.

At a time where the sheer number of devastating crises that are taking place across the world is simply too big and overwhelming to take on alone, it is clear that collaborative action is needed to guarantee access to vital care and security for all.

The Top 50 Social Entrepreneurs and the 12 multi-sector partnerships that were celebrated as a part of India's Last-Mile Responders list rightly highlighted examples of groundbreaking frontline work that social entrepreneurs are doing across the world.

The interactive dialogue session 'Carving the Path to An Inclusive Recovery' on 12 August 2021 was an insightful, inspirational, and enriching discussion among India's top Social Entrepreneurs who brought into light the necessary initiatives being taken to help the last-mile people.

We, at Industree, are even more driven by enthusiasm and action to support this initiative to reach the last mile delivery amidst COVID.

Industree’s “Producer Owned Women Enterprises” (POWER) project is designed to empower women artisans in rural India. The POWER project, in partnership with USAID, builds women producer-owned enterprises and connects them to national and international supply chains for natural and biodegradable fiber products. Producers in the proposed units receive tailored professional assistance to grow the skills and networks needed as employees and entrepreneurs. POWER also addresses restrictive social norms to increase support for women as entrepreneurs, working towards establishing their collective prosperity and dignity.

Meet our artisan of the week, Poornapetchi.A (29), a mother of two children. She is a basket weaving artisan at Madurai, Tamil Nadu-based producer unit incubated by Industree Foundation under the Producer Owned Women Enterprises (POWER) Project funded by USAID. Poornapetchi has been a part of the work from home model ever since the pandemic struck us. During this time she earned enough money from weaving baskets to buy herself a two-wheeler. This particular instance caught the attention of four other women in the locality which inspired them to join the work from home training. Today 4 other artisans own two-wheeler scooters after being inspired by Poornapetchi’s resilience and hard work.

Neelam Chhiber, Catalyst 2030NASE/Industree/CoLive highlighted 'how the pandemic impacted the social sector by bringing to light a huge collaborative spirit in order to collectively overcome mass challenges' during an interactive dialogue 'Carving the Path to a Just Recovery through Social Entrepreneurship' organized by WEF's CRASE on 13 August at 6:30-7:30 PM (IST). She further said, “If we have the right nourishing ecosystem, we will see a phenomenal enabling change.”

Thought leaders shared their experiences, inspiring opinions and perspectives towards an inclusive recovery amidst the Covid pandemic. Overall, it was an event with enriching discussions and an enthusiastic spirit.

Young people are on the frontlines of the struggle to build a better future for all. The theme of International Youth Day 2021, “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”, highlights the success of a global effort that will not be achieved without the meaningful participation of young people. There is a need for inclusive support mechanisms that ensure youth continue to amplify efforts collectively and individually to restore the planet and protect life while integrating biodiversity in the transformation of food systems.
