Children are so pure.

They say what they’re feeling when they’re feeling.
They’re in the moment. They’re open to learning different ideas much more!

They remind you that maybe we’re overcomplicating life or just worrying too much about the wrong things.

Being with them at the was so meaningful, fulfilling and loving. The barrage of hugs and ā€œwe love yousā€ were the sweetest gifts for us.

Here’s to focusing on preventative care and shaping the mental well-being of our future generations with lots of love, courage and empathy.

Many of us grew up in environments where we had to hide parts of our selves to be accepted. Whether it’s to hide a quirk, or to hide bigger parts of our personality.

Talks about mental health, particularly in south asia, are still ā€˜hidden’, brushed under the carpet, not brought up in family conversations, because the judgement and stigma around it is too much. Ironically, it’sā€more comfortableā€ to not talk about these.

That’s why was ab absolute feast and delight to our eyes! Such a beautiful celebration, all dedicated to talking about mental well-being, psychology, and holistically integrating all the important facets of education, prevention, policy, advocacy, care and more.

I’m so grateful that places like these exist. They help all of us embrace each other even more. Here’s to breaking the stigma around mental health, one conversation at a time. šŸ«‚

We had an enriching opportunity to advocate mental health and connect with passionate entrepreneurs at ā€˜s entrepreneurship conclave.

We’re grateful for this opportunity, and to describe it in 3 words, it was fulfilling, inspiring and energising.

As Rumi said, when we can’t see the light around you, perhaps you are the light. We hope you remember that on difficult days. šŸ«‚

That conversation you’re afraid to have? It could be the lifeline someone desperately needs. Most people contemplating su***de show warning signs: mood changes, withdrawal, talking about hopelessness. They’re not seeking attention; they’re drowning in pain and can’t see a way out. The myth that ā€œonce decided, it can’t be preventedā€ is dangerously wrong. With help, hope returns. Don’t stay silent. Ask the hard questions. Be that person who shows up. šŸ’™

Swipe through to separate myths from facts about su***de prevention. Because knowing the truth can save a life.

HAPPY WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY!

On this wonderful day, we’re so happy to share that we’re officially a Member of the World Health Organization (WHO)!

It marks an important milestone for us at Hues of the Mind. We are proud to share that our foundation has been recognized as a member of the WHO, aligning our mission with global efforts in mental well-being and health equity.

From engaging conversations to community-led initiatives, each step we’ve taken has been guided by compassion, collaboration, and togetherness.

This recognition isn’t ours alone , it belongs to every team member, community member, supporter, and every voice that believes mental health matters. šŸ’›

Here’s also a gentle reminder to check in with yourself and those around you. Make time to rest, feel, and heal because every single day, your mental health needs to matter.

Let’s continue creating a world where mental well-being is a human right, not a privilege. 🩵

I remember some of my fondest memories from school. My thirteen-old self would look forward to MUNs, the perfect opportunity to strategise, communicate effectively and make a difference with my recommendations.

I still vividly remember how I represented Barbados (UNFCC), Lebanon (UN ECOSOC), UK (UN SC), Canada (UN Women) and many more over the years in these mock simulations.

✨I still can’t fathom that this exercise turned into reality when I was nominated as a youth advisor and represented India at the 6th Global Ministerial Summit in Doha.

šŸŒFrom the first day, I was taken away by the grandeaur of the conference and my esteemed co-attendees. From international health ministers, to doctors and psychologists, and to leading diplomats and leaders from WHO, UNICEF.

šŸŽ™ļøI was a panelist in the workshop on children and adolescent health, which was co-chaired by UNICEF,World Health Organization, the Government of Qatar, and United for Global Mental Health.

It was truly a surreal experience to contribute meaningfully with my ideas, which have an opportunity to be contributed to meaningful policies across the globe.

We were also deeply honored that Her Excellency Sheikha Dr. Hessa bint Hamad Al Thani, Dr. Saleh Al-Mari, and Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Thani prioritized this session with their presence and even participated in the voting process themselves.

✨I had an opportunity to not only bring these recommendations to life with my wonderful team, but to present them in the plenary for all. These policies will inform a global-to-country campaign and they will guide global institutions.

Zenaib, Dr Waqar, Chiara, Dr Tami, Liz, Wafaa, your leadership and kindness are unparalleled. Thank you for your efforts in making this possible!

A special shoutout to Aviwe and the entire team at the Being Initiative, UGMH and Grand Challenges Canada for ensuring that voices of the youth play a pivotal role in policy development and advocacy.

And the magic truly happens because of the team Huesofthemind Mental Well-being Foundation.

Here’s to living the dreams our younger self could only imagine. 🩵

It Will Get Better
By Priya Raina

(My Story)

Life does not always move in a straight line. Sometimes it is full of unexpected turns. There are days when everything feels bright and full of hope, and then there are others when things seem confusing and heavy. For many of us, this journey through life feels deeply personal.

We face our own struggles, ones that quietly test our strength and shape who we are. In the middle of it all, there is a thought we try to hold on to that things do get better. But believing that is not always easy, especially when we cannot clearly see what lies ahead of us.

Speaking from my own experience, I have been through these ups and downs. Leaving home for studies, training, and work brought many new changes. Along the way, I met people, some stayed, some did not. That sense of people coming and going left me feeling distracted, and at times, alone. But the hardest part was not just the changes around me. It was what I was feeling inside.
Some days, I felt full of energy. Other times, I could not make sense of what I was feeling. I would wake up feeling heavy, unwilling to move, get ready, or do anything. I would sit quietly, lost in my own thoughts, even when I was not alone. It felt like my mind had drifted far away, and I could not quite bring it back. I was there physically, but mentally, I was somewhere else entirely.

OCD vs. Pure OCD – What sets them apart?

While traditional OCD often includes visible rituals like frequent hand-washing, repeatedly checking locks or appliances, counting, or arranging things in a specific order, Pure OCD involves internal compulsions, repetitive thoughts, mental checking, and silent reassurance-seeking. These struggles may not be outwardly visible, but they are just as real.

Pure OCD can be harder to recognize and often goes undiagnosed, leaving individuals feeling confused or ashamed of their thoughts. Intrusive thoughts do not define your worth, with compassionate support and the right tools, it’s possible to regain clarity, peace, and a sense of control.

Let’s raise awareness, not assumptions. šŸ’™

Acknowledging q***r stressors and staying informed about various sensitive issues is key to understanding q***r sensitive therapy. It’s not always the big moments, sometimes it’s the minor daily stressors that weigh the most. Misgendering. Side-eyes. Silence. For LGBTQ+ folks, even the ā€˜minor’ things matter. 🌈🧠 .
