RWEP Industrial Exposure Visit to Janes on May 6, 2026
IEEE India Philanthropy successfully organised an insightful industrial exposure visit to Janes, bringing together 15 returning women engineers and 5 students from RNS Institute of Technology - RNSIT.
The session began with a warm welcome and introduction to Janes and IEEE, followed by an engaging overview of the Janes intelligence landscape. Participants also gained valuable insights into the interview process and hiring expectations at Janes, helping them understand real industry requirements.
The visit opened up perspectives on career opportunities in the Defence & Aerospace sector, especially in areas like AI-driven platforms, embedded systems, secure communications, and real-time technologies—key domains shaping the future.
The impact was truly meaningful: Participants shared that the interaction boosted their confidence and felt like a real-time simulation of industry environments. It helped them identify both technical and personal skill gaps. They also gained clarity on what hiring managers look for beyond technical expertise.
A heartfelt thank you to the Janes team for their collaboration and support. The session was highly beneficial in enabling knowledge sharing, networking, and career guidance for our participants.

When women return to work, they need confidence, direction, and the right support to restart!

The IEEE Returning Women Engineers Program, funded by Quest Global, conducted two online sessions for the batch 2 participants, focused on helping them take clear steps toward their career goals.

These sessions helped returning women build both direction and confidence for their career comeback. They learnt how to set clear goals, create weekly action plans, update resumes, apply to companies regularly, research opportunities, negotiate better, solve problems, identify their strengths, and build a practical roadmap for their job search. Along with career strategy, the sessions also focused on building voice, confidence, and presence. Participants learnt how to speak with power and clarity, talk about their career break confidently, stop interruptions, reclaim their space in conversations, and manage their emotions with calm and control.

Many returning women have talent, experience, and commitment. What they often need is structured guidance, encouragement, and a space to rebuild their career path.

Initiatives like this can help more women restart their careers, become financially independent, support their families, and bring valuable skills back into the workforce.

We look forward to partnering with more funders to scale this program and deepen its impact.

What comes after ‘just a mom’?”

This question sparked meaningful reflection during a recent session with our Returning Women Engineers Program participants.

The session focused on Strategic Impact & Visibility: Unlocking Influence and Resume Crafting, supporting women as they transition back into the workforce and rebuild their professional identity with confidence.

Key areas explored included the following:

1. Moving beyond limiting identity labels
2. Understanding the role of visibility in career growth
3. Building a consistent and authentic professional presence
4. Communicating work and achievements with clarity
5. Using LinkedIn as a platform to shape and share career narratives

While technical skills are critical, the ability to articulate one’s value and show up with confidence is equally important.

RWEP supports women not just in returning to work, but in doing so with clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of professional identity.

If this could benefit someone in your network who is considering a return to the workforce, share and help them upskill!

Rebuilding Careers with Confidence: RWEP Phase 2 , Batch 2 Launch in Bangalore

On April 9–10, 2026, the Returning Women Engineers Program (RWEP), funded by Quest Global and implemented by IEEE India Philanthropy, launched its Phase 2 Batch-2 in Bangalore with an in-person orientation and soft skills training.

This initiative continues to support women engineers who are looking to restart their careers after a break, helping them build the right mix of technical direction and workplace readiness.

The program opened with sessions by IEEE India Philanthropy, where participants were introduced to structured learning pathways and current industry expectations. A gender sensitivity session also encouraged open discussions around managing both personal and professional responsibilities.

Members of the IEEE WIE Advisory Committee also shared their experiences. Ramalatha Marimuthu spoke about her journey of returning to work and her involvement with the Returning Mothers Conference (RMC). Dr. Surekha Deshmukh highlighted the importance of core engineering fields and choosing the right upskilling path. Mini Ullanat spoke about the need to build skills that match industry requirements.

Participants then took part in 1.5 days of focused soft skills training, covering key areas such as confidence building, goal setting, professional presence, and time management—skills that are critical for a successful return to the workforce.

RWEP continues to create real impact by preparing a skilled and confident talent pool of women engineers ready to rejoin the workforce.

We welcome partners, funders and supporters who would like to be part of this effort to strengthen diversity in engineering and create more opportunities for women returning to work.

When we put together the impact page of our annual report, it really made us pause and reflect on the year gone by.
What stood out are not just the numbers, but the people and communities behind them. None of these achievements would have been possible without the support of our funding entities, collaborators, volunteers, and the communities we work with.
Sharing a glimpse of what we have been able to do together.

Strengthening School Education through STEM and Clean Energy

IEEE India Philanthropy, with generous funding support from the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiative of JSW through the JSW Foundation, giving impetus to primary education and skill-driven value education, has successfully established a STEM laboratory and a 1 kW solar-based UPS system at DKZP Government Model Higher Primary School, Panjimogaru, Mangalore.

This initiative will benefit 344 students from LKG to Grade 7, along with 10–15 teachers, enabling uninterrupted learning and giving children the opportunity to explore science through experiments and interactive models.

The STEM Lab allows students to explore concepts such as energy, electricity, optics, human anatomy, and chemistry through simple, hands-on models and experiments. Instead of only reading from textbooks, students can now see, touch, and understand how science works in real life.

The solar-powered UPS system deployed by one of the entrepreneurs of Schneider Electric ensures reliable power for classrooms and the lab, ensuring learning continues smoothly while also introducing students to the importance of clean, sustainable energy.

This initiative is a meaningful step towards building classrooms where students are encouraged to question, experiment, and explore.

Efforts like this can go a long way in making learning more exciting and meaningful for young students.

We started this journey with JSW Group, and we are now eager to expand it to 100 more remote schools.

Join IEEE India Philanthropy in this effort. Be a part of the journey, support the expansion, and help us bring real change to communities that need it most.

Clean energy is the need of the hour!

Clean energy solutions are increasingly becoming essential. Institutions that cook meals for hundreds of people every day still rely completely on LPG for cooking.

Hostels, schools, and factory canteens cannot stop functioning. Meals must be prepared daily.

At BCM Hostel 45 in Vijayapura, Devanahalli, Bangalore, IEEE India Philanthropy set an exemplary solution by implementing the Clean Cooking Project funded by Axon' Cable India. A solar-powered clean cooking system, technically designed by Schneider Electric, has been installed, allowing the kitchen to operate smoothly by generating energy from sunlight.

Previously, the hostel relied entirely on LPG cylinders. With the introduction of solar-powered induction cooking, this dependence has been partially reduced. The kitchen environment has also become smoke-free, providing cooks with a healthier and more comfortable workplace.

This raises an important question: why should essential services like cooking depend entirely on fuels when sunlight is available every day?

Clean energy is no longer only about addressing climate change. It is also about reliability, independence, and resilience.

If more hostels, schools, and factory kitchens adopted solar-powered cooking, thousands of kitchens could become less vulnerable to fuel disruptions.

Sometimes the best solution is also the simplest one.

The sun shines every day. Why shouldn’t we use it?

In order to scale, IEEE India Philanthropy is eager to connect with government and government-aided schools, hostels, and anganwadis across India. We are seeking more funding collaborators to help us make this journey a reality.

Join us in making a difference!
