State Level Convention against KPS Magnet Schools.
Senior writer K. Marulasiddappa addressed massive state-level people's convention held today at Freedom Park, Bengaluru, under the slogans "Save Our neighbourhood School", and "Our School is Our Identity."
"All governments ruling us have consistently protected the interests of wealthy businessmen while neglecting the poor. By sn**ching away the people's rights to education, healthcare, and employment, the government is attempting to silence them with 'guarantees.' Let us unite to fight for our neighborhood schools against a government that fails to understand their importance," he said.
Developmental educationist Niranjanaradhya stated: "In its election manifesto, Congress promised to completely reject NEP-2020 and strengthen education by introducing SEP (State Education Policy). However, it is shameful that they have now undemocratically implemented the KPS Magnet Scheme."
Cultural thinker and educationist Prof. S.G. Siddaramaiah remarked: "Children from rural areas have come to protest to save their local government schools. It is not a matter of pride for the government to have pushed children to this state. Ministers are robbing education by opening their own private schools. The government is moving to sn**ch the educational dreams of poor children through the KPS scheme. Seeing these children on the streets brings blood to the eyes, not just tears. Even if one government school closes, rural children, especially girls, will be deprived of education. This move is highly condemnable and shameful."
Siddharth Rath, Joint Secretary of the AIDSO All India Council, said: "There is a nationwide conspiracy to systematically close government schools under various names, crushing the dreams of poor children. The merger of 14,379 schools in Odisha is a fresh example. This is not just an educational injustice but a horrific attack on our culture. We must learn from history. We must learn from history. Whenever the ruling class tries to suppress the working class, organized struggle has always triumphed.
