ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) is one of the disabilities that come under the umbrella of Neuro-disabilities. Including other neuro-disabilities such as ID (Intellectual Disability), ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), MI (Mental Illness, also known as Psychiatric illness) LD (Learning Disability), etc. will increase your chances of getting a neurodiverse pool.

October brings us Dyslexia Awareness Month, ADHD Awareness Month, and Disability Employment Awareness Month, and Adobe is leading the charge in Neurodiversity Awareness!
Adobe's Bangalore and Noida offices just kicked off a fantastic initiative with four immersive experience rooms to help their employees better understand Neurodiversity.
This was all part of their "Adobe for All" Day, dedicated to creating a workplace where everyone feels welcome and supported while celebrating diversity, equity, and inclusion!

Our team spent a very interesting afternoon with Thorkil Sonne, who is the founder ofSpecialisterne Foundation, Denmark and our partner in the Joint Venture, Specialisterne Enable India Solutions.

There was so much to learn from him, that a few hours of his time did not seem enough.

Thorkil's commitment to making sure that there is an ecosystem in place to ensure neurodiversity inclusion at the workplace, which is beneficial to both the company as well as the neurodivergent talent was very motivating.

Here are a few things that Thorkil wanted to share with those we work with and hope to work with in the future

Language reflects social attitudes, but it also affects societal views and expectations when it comes to persons with disability (PwD). Language can be appropriated and reappropriated; its meaning is constantly evolving but speaks to the time in which it is used.

Many people prefer to be seen as ‘people with disabilities’ but not defined by their impairment.

As JR Thorpe states, ‘the difference between the perspectives essentially boils down to personhood and disability: is it something that you have, or something that’s at the core of your identity?’

6 months in and 2 projects out!

Within 6 months of its inception, Specialisterne Enable India Solutions is already working on two projects with two companies from the banking sector and the financial services sector. Following our ethos, these projects are focused on inclusion of neurodivergent individuals at the workplace.

We are also working closely with our NGO partners to create a ready and employable pool of neurodivergent candidates. This will enable us to close the skill gap present in the market by building a pipeline of suitable candidates who can cater to the emerging demands of companies from multiple sectors like the logistics, IT and specialized delivery service sectors.
