That’s what our Grade 11 students explored in the first mentorship session of AY 2026–27 under the 𝗣𝘂𝗻𝗷𝗮𝗯 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 .

The session on Idea Selection, led by 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗮 𝗚𝗼𝗲𝗹 , Program Manager & Design Thinking Facilitator, Innovation Mission Punjab, explored how to identify problems, understand customers, develop solutions and recognise opportunities.

A great start to a year of mentorship, learning and ideas taking shape. 🚀

160+ nano-entrepreneurs. One important shift: more income = more possibilities.

Through the Saamuhika Shakti project, we work with nano-entrepreneurs from Bengaluru’s informal waste-picker communities to strengthen the businesses they are already building.

Our work is centred on everyday shifts that help nano-entrepreneurs build stronger businesses through practical, contextual and sustained support.

And when income grows, the impact can go beyond the number: greater resilience, more choices, and more agency over what comes next.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝘁. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆’𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝘂𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱.

Across government schools, young people are taking their ideas from the classroom into the real world, with pathways opening up to institutions like Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, Plaksha University and Ashoka University.

At IIT Ropar alone, 19 student-led ventures originating from school entrepreneurship programmes have entered incubation.

This is what happens when students have the 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀: a school project can become a venture, and a young person with an idea can access mentors, technology and opportunities far beyond the classroom.

What if we told you a Class 12 student at a government school in Punjab built an e-cycle that can go 70 km on a single charge?

Not an engineer. A school student. Now the founder of Electric Sharks.

His first order came from IIT Ropar, and his work was recognised by Punjab’s Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains.

160+ nano-entrepreneurs. 42 communities. On an average 1.8x income uplift for the nano-entrepreneurs.

Behind every number is an entrepreneur running a business, making decisions and working towards a more stable livelihood.

Through the Saamuhika Shakti project, Udhyam Vyapaar works with nano-entrepreneurs from Bengaluru’s informal waste-picker communities to strengthen the businesses they are already building.

The support is practical and meets the nano-entrepreneurs in their reality - from better sourcing and market access to financial literacy, business mentoring and the tools entrepreneurs need to make more informed decisions. The goal isn’t to build a handful of success stories. It is to unlock the potential that already exists across these communities and enable more entrepreneurs to build stronger, more resilient sources of income.

Before Students Can Think Differently, Teachers Have to Experience It

A classroom can change when a teacher starts asking a different question: “What if we looked at this problem differently?”

That was the spirit of the first Kushal Business Challenge (KBC) Master Trainer Program, held on 5–6 August 2026, where 50 Master Trainers from 25 districts of Uttar Pradesh came together to experience entrepreneurial learning for themselves.

The training was inaugurated by Mr. Vishnu Kant Pandey, Additional State Project Director, who introduced the 3H framework — Hisaab, Hunar and Hosla — and spoke about entrepreneurship as a mindset for the future.

Over two days, the Master Trainers moved from being participants to problem-solvers — forming teams, reflecting, identifying opportunities and turning observations into ideas. The experience offered them a glimpse of what students can discover when learning moves beyond finding the right answer.

On Day 2, Mr. Vivek Nautiyal, Joint Director, emphasised the importance of understanding a problem deeply before looking for solutions. The programme concluded with Mr. Manoj Verma, Assistant Director, who distributed certificates and encouraged the Master Trainers to take this learning back to their districts.

And that is where the real journey begins.

These Master Trainers will now carry the KBC experience into classrooms across Uttar Pradesh — helping teachers create spaces where students can notice a problem, question it, imagine what could be different, and have the confidence to build towards it.
