From Shirin creating livelihoods for 10 women to Kavita turning struggle into strength, these stories redefine what entrepreneurship truly means. It’s not always about scale or spotlight, it’s about dignity, responsibility, and the courage to change your reality.

This journey reminded us that the most powerful enterprises are often the quietest ones - the ones that transform homes, families, and entire communities without ever making headlines.

In cities like Bengaluru, street food isn’t just a convenient meal.
For ~2 million people, it’s a daily source of sustenance.

Yet, the nano-entrepreneurs behind this system operate with:
• Thin margins and long hours
• Limited infrastructure
• Constant uncertainty

At Udhyam Vyapaar, we’re working closely with street food vendors! Not with one-size-fits-all solutions, but through tailored solutioning and one-on-one mentoring.

Working towards helping their businesses grow, incomes increase, and livelihoods strengthen.

9 years in. Not because we had all the answers — we didn’t.

But because people kept showing up.

For students in classrooms across Bharat.

For nano-entrepreneurs.

For a Bharat that doesn’t always get the spotlight, but deserves all of it.

Hear it from the Udhyamis who’ve lived this journey and made these 9 years what they are.

Here's to Jab We Met Udhyam 🧡

Nine years.
Countless beginnings.

What started as a belief has grown into a movement carried by young people across classrooms, streets, and communities.

This year alone has been a reminder of what’s possible.
Entrepreneurship entering systems.
Young people building, earning, leading.
Ideas turning into action at scale.

Nine years in, and the energy still feels like day one.

Today, we celebrate the journeys, the shifts, and the quiet moments of courage that got us here.

And then, we get back to work.

Across our cities, millions of nano-entrepreneurs open shop every day. Navigating long hours, uncertainty, and thin margins to keep their businesses running.

At Udhyam Vyapaar, our approach is rooted in understanding these realities. Through tailored solutioning and one-on-one mentoring, we work with entrepreneurs to strengthen their businesses in ways that are practical and sustainable.

Support from funders like FincFriends enables us to deepen our work with nano-entrepreneurs and continue building solutions grounded in their realities.

Ending the week on a wholesome note!

Jeeva’s journey has been about more than income growth. Through sustained effort, openness to learning, and sheer determination, she has built confidence, ambition, and a stronger belief in what’s possible through her business.

Her progress has not only transformed her own livelihood, but is now inspiring other women in her community to imagine and work towards better futures.

This felicitation marks the beginning of a series where we recognise women entrepreneurs who demonstrate both meaningful income uplift and visible mindset change.

This project supports women nano-entrepreneurs who are a part of the waste picker community, as part of the Saamuhika Shakti initiative - a collective effort to create pathways toward dignity, stability, and hope.

Watch Jeeva’s story and celebrate her journey with us.

When women are supported, they don’t just grow, they build.

Udyam Vyapaar is enabling women to turn their entrepreneurial dreams into reality. And when a woman builds her own business, she doesn’t just earn an income, she earns dignity, confidence, and respect.

She creates opportunities, uplifts her family, and inspires an entire community to dream bigger. Because when one woman rises, she takes many along with her.

What does a win look like in livelihoods work?
Not having to think twice.

For the women nano-entrepreneurs we work with, that means - groceries without anxiety. A doctor’s visit without dread. School fees without hesitation.

At Udhyam Vyapaar, we work alongside women from waste-picker communities to build incomes that are stable enough to make everyday life feel a little less uncertain.

Because dignity shouldn’t be a goal. It should be a given.

This project supports women nano-entrepreneurs who are a part of the waste picker community, as part of the Saamuhika Shakti initiative - a collective effort to create pathways toward dignity, stability, and hope.

Women start. Women build. Women finish.

In our Youth Business Projects across Madhya Pradesh and Delhi, a clear pattern is emerging: all-female teams are more likely to complete the full entrepreneurial journey.

In FY24–25, 408,993 girls participated in the program. As teams move from idea → pitch → prototype → actual sales, all-girls’ teams consistently show a higher propensity to stay the course and reach the finish line.

The shift shows up in mindset too. In Delhi, 53% of girls showed a positive shift in grit compared to 47% of boys, along with stronger gains in self-efficacy.

Young women are not just participating in entrepreneurship education.
They are finishing what they start.

This month, we celebrate their achievement — the girls who turn ideas into action.

Learn more about them on our latest blog:

In entrepreneurship, there is a meaningful difference between starting and finishing. Ideas are plentiful. But turning an idea into something real, building a prototype, testing it in the market, and making the first sale requires persistence, teamwork, and grit. When we look at the data from Udhyam...
