Not retribution. Recognition.

What is a Court of Women?

In 1992, Corinne Kumar imagined a different kind of court.
It sits in a circle.
There are no judges handing down sentences and no cross-examination. Women are heard on their own terms, in their own words, at their own pace.

The World Courts of Women are public hearings built on  , a different idea of what justice can be:

Not retribution, punishment, or being spoken for
Instead:  , , and a woman's right to tell her story her way

What began as one idea has become a heard across the world:
1992: where it began
50+ Courts held
30+ countries

At the heart of every Court is one question:

What would justice look like if it started with the woman who was harmed, and not the system that harmed her?

This December in Bengaluru, the Courts of Women 2026: Women & Displacement carries that question forward.

Vimochana and our efforts towards Training the Systems

Some of our most important work never reaches a headline - training officers, designing -city protocols, and increasingly, running -sensitization sessions for teams.

If your runs L&D or DEI training and gender-based violence awareness fits your curriculum, this is a programme we can adapt directly for your team.

Kuteera and rural reach
Kuteera, our shelter in Kolar, does more than house women in crisis - residents have also built organic cultivation practices on-site, working toward a self-sustaining model rather than one of indefinite dependency.
Our rural communities programme extends the same crisis-response logic beyond Bengaluru, into districts where the nearest formal support can be hours away. If your organisation works in rural Karnataka, or your foundation prioritises geographic equity in service delivery, this is where a partnership could have outsized impact.
