Many lives have been lost and thousands have been rendered homeless in the ensuing violence. The Meitei diaspora residing in the state of Karnataka felt an urgent urge to step-in and provide some sort of humanitarian assistance to our unfortunate fellow citizens in Manipur. Like minded individuals of Meitei brothers and sisters in Karnataka came together and informally organized themselves as a gr

oup and started to contribute and arrange for these humanitarian aids. The members started to meet regularly and discussed the need to establish a formal association to continue our social efforts. Moreover, since our activities also involve monetary contribution, we needed to make our activities more transparent and comply with the authorities. As a continuation of our pursuance, Karnataka Meitei Association (KMA) became a formal and registered body under Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 (Karnataka No. 17 of 1960 Act) on 11th July 2023 vied registration number DRB3/SOR/176/2023-2024. An executive governing body was elected and a core committee was constituted as per the guidelines. The group vows to mobilize the masses in an effort to continue with the humanitarian activities. Apart, we are also making strides to chart out activities for the welfare of Meitei expatriates in Karnataka and our people back in our homeland. The body plans to organize events and gatherings as deemed necessary in the course of time. Transparency and commitment of the members remains a core quality of the association.
