Mahavir International Bangalore Center Conducts Eye Check-Up Camp at Nirash*tara Parihara Kendra (NPK)
Bangalore, May 30:
In a compassionate initiative aimed at uplifting the most vulnerable members of our society, Mahavir International organized a comprehensive eye check-up camp at the NPK, Central Relief Centre (CRC) under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Government of Karnataka. This noble endeavor, held on 30th May 2025, was carried out in collaboration with Project Drishti, with the objective of providing essential eye care to the rehabilitated beggar community residing at the centre.
NPK currently houses and rehabilitates over 900 men and women, many of whom were brought in under the Prohibition of Beggary Act. These individuals, once living on the streets across Karnataka, are now being offered a second chance through structured rehabilitation programs facilitated by CRC. The centre works extensively in restoring dignity and independence to these individuals, providing food, shelter, health care, vocational training, and psychological counselling.
Mahavir International joined hands with CRC to amplify these efforts. Their collaborative activities include conducting health camps, entertainment sessions, vocational training workshops, and counselling services aimed at not only improving the living conditions of the inmates but also at tracing their familial roots through data voluntarily shared by them.
The eye check-up camp on May 30th marked a significant milestone in this partnership. A total of 256 inmates underwent eye examinations. Of them, over 100 were provided with reading spectacles, offering immediate relief and improved quality of life. The event was efficiently coordinated and saw active volunteer participation throughout the day.
Mr. Rajendra, the government-appointed Supervisor of CRC, extended full support to Mahavir International volunteers, ensuring smooth logistics and enthusiastic cooperation from the centre’s staff. His dedication was deeply appreciated by Bharathi Chajjed Talesara. Chairperson of Mahavir International Bangalore Center, who expressed gratitude for the ongoing partnership and commitment to this humanitarian cause.
As a gesture of sustained support, Mahavir International also donated an oxygen concentrator for the medical needs of the inmates.
The camp saw wholehearted participation from Mahavir International members, including Treasurer Suresh Lakhani, Joint Secretary Ashish Bafna, and dedicated members such as Dineshji Lodha, Divya Pirgal, Dipti Bafna, Akshay Dak, and Mukesh Bhandari. Their collective efforts were instrumental in making the event a resounding success.
Mahavir International Bangalore Centre reaffirms its commitment to creating meaningful change and continues to work closely with CRC to help rehabilitated individuals rebuild their lives with dignity, care, and compassion
