"A volunteer is coming to stay with us."

More than two decades ago, that simple sentence marked the beginning of a journey that Gretta and her family never expected. Since then, more than 50 volunteers from 20 countries have shared meals at their table, celebrated festivals together, exchanged stories, and become part of their lives.

As we share Gretta's story, we're reminded that some of the most meaningful impacts of volunteering happen not only in communities, but also in the homes and hearts of the people who open their doors to the world. ❤️

"We think that today and yesterday were two super lovely days. We enjoyed the restaurants, the lighthouse and the beach. It was very exciting to experience the tile factory and our first coin museum visit. Thank you for two wonderful days."
