Loving Sairams from Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam!

The evening of Ganesh Chathurthi at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam unfolded in an atmosphere of celebratory joy with the grand Pallaki Utsavam of the Utsava Murthi of Sri Sathyatmatva Mahaganapathy.

Seated upon His Mooshika, symbolising the wavering human mind brought under the mastery of the Divine, the Lord was carried in a beautiful procession, with Aarathi and Naivedyam offered with devotion.

The evening then came alive with Nritya Samarpanam, a captivating dance presentation by the students of Shilpakala Naatyashala. Through graceful movements and expressive storytelling, the students brought alive the divine stories of Lord Ganesha and His family, taking everyone through these timeless narrations and allowing the stories to unfold before their eyes.

As the auspicious day came to a blissful close, the celebrations left hearts filled with joy, devotion, and contentment, taking back a lesson to free the wavering mind from its restless ways, and guide it towards complete surrender at Bhagawan’s Lotus Feet.

Loving Sairams from Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam!

Ganesh Chaturthi morning at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam came alive in an atmosphere of deep devotion, sacred joy and auspiciousness.

Following the splendid Abhishekam and Alankaram of the Moola Murthi of Sri Sathyatmatva Mahaganapathy the previous evening, the celebrations commenced with Prarthana and the sacred Sahasra Modaka Homam. A thousand modakas were offered into the sacred fire, carrying with them the prayers, aspirations and devotion of all those gathered.

The Utsava Murthi of Sri Sathyatmatva Mahaganapathy was then offered Maha Abhishekam with sacred dravyams and adorned in an exquisite Alankaram. As the Divine Form emerged in all its splendour, the morning seemed to embody the very essence of Ganesh Chaturthi: invoking wisdom, seeking the removal of obstacles and beginning anew with faith.

Soulful Bhajans, sacred Mantras and the auspicious strains of Nadaswaram resonated through Vaatsalyam, filling every corner with devotion. Every chant, every offering and every prayer became an expression of love and surrender.

Following the Maha Mangala Aarathi, devotees received Prasadam with hearts filled with gratitude and devotion, carrying with them the joy and auspiciousness of the morning.

As the morning drew to a close, anticipation grew for the evening's Pallaki Utsavam, when Sri Sathyatmatva Mahaganapathy would be taken in procession amidst the love and devotion of His devotees.

And perhaps, that is the true prayer of Ganesh Chaturthi: that as we offer our prayers to Ganesha, we also learn to offer our fears, our doubts and our obstacles at His feet. May He fill our hearts with wisdom, strengthen our faith and help us walk forward with love, courage and clarity.

On this sacred occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi, may we remember Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s teaching that the Vinayaka Principle dwells within each one of us as intellect and wisdom. May we cultivate the discrimination to choose what is right, the strength to overcome every obstacle, and the equanimity to remain serene through all the ups and downs of life.

May the grace of Vighneswara, the remover of obstacles and the bestower of Buddhi and Siddhi, guide us on the path of righteous action, inner purity, peace, and self-realisation.

There is something wonderfully disarming about the way Krishna plays.
In His leelas, play was never merely play. It was a way of drawing hearts closer, bringing people together and quietly revealing who could see beyond the game to the One who was playing it. Through laughter, mischief and shared joy, Krishna found His bhaktas, and His bhaktas found Him.

It was in this spirit that Krishna Leela unfolded at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam as part of the Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations. For a morning, the space transformed into a playground of devotion, where children and devotees stepped into games inspired by the playful world of Sri Krishna.

From Matka Breaking and the spirited Krishna Uvacha to Krishna Smarana, sack race and tug-of-war, every game carried a gentle lesson: Keep Him at the centre. Remember Him as you play. And play the game of life with love.

The children discovered that the joy was not only in winning, but in cheering for one another, extending a helping hand, encouraging a teammate and celebrating another’s victory. Competition gave way to camaraderie, and games became little classrooms in love, cooperation and remembrance.
Amidst the lively games, soulful bhajans filled the air, leading into the sacred Abhishekam and Alankaram of Godha Devi sametha Sri Venugopala Swami. From laughter to devotion, from play to prayer, the morning became a beautiful offering.

Krishna Leela gently reminded us that spirituality need not always be solemn. It can laugh, run, cheer, stumble, rise and play.

Perhaps that is the timeless charm of Krishna’s leela. He draws us into the game through joy, teaches us how to play it with love, and quietly reminds us where to keep our eyes, our hearts and our lives: with Him.

Loving Sairams from Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam!

When the Divine is celebrated with love, devotion, and childlike joy, every moment becomes a beautiful offering.

Sri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated at Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam in an atmosphere filled with devotion, music, colour, and the joyful participation of devotees and children from the surrounding villages.

The celebrations began with a sacred Gau Pooja, offering reverence to the cows, followed by the release of a pair of white doves, symbolising peace, purity, and the boundless joy of freedom. This was followed by the grand Maha Abhishekam and Alankaram of Godhadevi sametha Sri Venugopala Swami. Accompanied by the auspicious strains of Nadaswaram and soulful bhajans, the divine splendour of the Lord filled everyone with devotion.

The evening came alive with the playful spirit of Krishna, as children from the surrounding villages, dressed as little Radhas and Krishnas, added colour, innocence, and childlike joy to the celebrations.

A beautiful Annakootamahotsavam was offered to Sri Krishna, with an abundant spread of puliyogerai, lemon rice, and other delicacies, lovingly arranged as a depiction of Maa Yashoda feeding Bala Krishna. The offering beautifully evoked the tender sweetness of Yashoda’s vaatsalya and her boundless love for her little Kanha.

This was followed by the Govardhana Giri Mahotsavam, where a magnificent floral offering to Venugopala Swami took the form of Govardhanagiri, bringing alive the beloved leela of Sri Krishna in a stunning visual offering.

The air resonated with the sweet Namasmaranam, interwoven with mesmerising bhajans. Devotees and children alike immersed themselves in the joyous remembrance of the Lord, celebrating Krishna through devotion, music, beauty, and loving seva.

As the celebrations drew to a close, hearts were filled with gratitude and contentment, carrying with them the sweetness of a day spent in the remembrance of Krishna.

With Bhagawan’s blessings, may the love, wisdom, and joyful spirit of Sri Krishna continue to blossom in every heart.

On this sacred Krishna Janmashtami, may the love of Sri Krishna, the beloved Navanīta Chora, churn our hearts and draw forth the purest essence within us, softening them with love, compassion and humility.

May our hearts be filled with bhakti, our minds anchored in His remembrance, and our lives become an offering at His lotus feet. May His love awaken in us the spirit of selfless service, oneness and surrender.

Loving Sairams from Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam!

Some visits stay with us not because of what was planned, but because of the people we meet and the moments we share.

For the Chennai volunteers, their visit to the New Wisdom Rehab Centre in Baraniputur was one such experience.

Home to around 40 men of different age groups, the centre is a space where lives are being rebuilt as the residents walk the path of de-addiction and rehabilitation.

The volunteers were welcomed with warmth and sincerity. What began as a visit soon became an opportunity to sit together, converse and listen. In those simple exchanges, they glimpsed lives shaped by struggle, courage and the determination to move forward.

What stayed with the volunteers was the openness and resilience they encountered. Each person had a different story, yet every story carried the possibility of hope and renewal. The experience was a gentle reminder that a person is far more than the circumstances that may have brought them to a particular point in life.

Perhaps this is where the beauty of seva lies - not always in what we bring or what we do, but in how we meet another human being. With an open heart. Without judgement. With the willingness to listen, connect and recognise the Divine in the person before us.

The volunteers came to serve, but the encounter left them with something to carry home: a deeper appreciation for human resilience and a renewed understanding of compassion.

Sometimes, love asks for nothing more than to show up, listen and be there.

Loving Sairams from Sri Sathya Sai Vaatsalyam!

Sometimes, better vision is not a single moment of treatment, but a journey of care.

The August eye camp at Sri Sathya Sai Vaidyalayam brought comprehensive eye screening to more than 150+ villagers from the surrounding communities. This month, the newly-inaugurated Nayanamrutha Dhaara mobile eye van also became a part of this effort, extending the reach of specialised eye care through a dedicated mobile facility.

While some patients were identified as needing corrective spectacles, others were guided towards further treatment, including surgical intervention. Patients who had already undergone treatment also returned for their post-operative follow-ups, reflecting the importance of continued care at every stage of their journey towards better vision.

Over the months, these regular eye camps have grown into more than periodic screenings. They have created a familiar and accessible pathway through which villagers can recognise a concern, seek timely advice, receive treatment and return for follow-up, without having to travel far from home.

Because clearer vision can open the way to so much more: greater independence, the confidence to go about daily life, and the simple pleasure of seeing the world around us a little better.
