Foundation Day 2026

Surupa Sen writes:

The years pass, and distinct memories emerge from the many embedded deep in my heart on days like this, reminding me why it all started in the first place. What was Gaurima’s intent when she set out to build a place like Nrityagram?

Since 11 May 1990, when this dance village was inaugurated by the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri V. P. Singh, the sacred red earth of Nrityagram has nurtured the most magnificent dancing feet - passionately rising to the sound of bells and drums, carrying forward the music of the past and the yearnings of the future.

Few dreams have been as pure in conception and rendition. Here in Nrityagram, as surely as our founder Protima Gauri envisioned, life becomes the dance itself. Each of us has contributed, in our own small ways, to making this dream come true - by dancing to the best of our abilities and believing fully in each moment we dance.

The dance comes first, above all else, and I pray it may always remain so. Within it is a beacon of hope that sets us free, embracing us in the power of art that makes us whole - enriching our lives and the imaginations of those who witness us dance.

We are grateful to those who came before us, and to each one of you who binds us together by supporting and believing with us that what we do truly matters.

Thank you 🙏🏼

Every debut carries years within it - years of practice, repetition, trust, perseverance, discovery, and love.

As we conclude this series revisiting Pavithra’s solo debut from 2003, we celebrate the journey that continues to shape her as an artist and dancer.

Each memory reflects a life deeply rooted in dance - guided by gurus, nurtured by community, and sustained through years of dedicated practice.

Some moments stay with us for a lifetime. They become part of how we move, how we grow, and how we return to what we love most.

With gratitude for the journey, and for everyone who walks alongside it.

Summer Fun for Kids 2026

The past few days have been nothing short of magical.
Watching these children wake up every morning with so much energy and excitement, throw themselves into every class, every activity, every meal together — it has been a treat!
Our sacred space came alive in a whole new way because of them, and we are grateful for that.
From day one, they were cooperative, enthusiastic, and so incredibly present in every single class! They made every teacher’s heart full.
We miss their chatter and laughter in our campus, and hope to see them back here soon!

Once Upon A Dreamer

For Pavithra Reddy, her solo debut remains a day she carries within her — vivid, tender, unforgettable.

Her body bore the weight of months of practice — her back tied in knots — until, on the day itself, Dr. Kanan eased that strain away. A small, timely act of care she has never forgotten.

There were nerves. There was fear.
But there was also love — steady and surrounding.

As she prepared to step on stage, Surupa Sen offered her a quiet reminder:
“Be yourself when you dance.”

A sentence that stayed. A truth she returns to, performance after performance.

That moment was shaped by the journey — the discipline of returning, again and again, to each movement until it became instinct, until it became her.

She stepped on stage with one wish — to make her gurus proud, to honour all that had been given to her.

And she did.

Continuing her solo debut (2003) series — Ahe Nila Saila
