The torch has been passed to our newest student government leaders! 🔥 After a nail-biting campaign and election, our 19 new student government ministers were sworn into their roles during a special ceremony.

“I want our Student Government to be the best through providing entertainment, resources, and most importantly, connection,” says our incoming president Ntwali Kevin.

Congratulations to each of our newly elected leaders! We can’t wait to see how you shape the Village over the next school year.

For , our students hit the road — some for the very first time! 🚲 They also learned how traveling on two wheels can reduce carbon emissions and make you healthier. The event was part of a week of Village environmental action, from community clean-ups to tree planting.

“ASYV helped me realize that I can use the knowledge and skills I gained there to make a meaningful contribution to society,” says Hussein Kabera, ASYV Class of 2018.

Today, Hussein works to make nutritious food more affordable and accessible, especially in Rwanda’s rural areas. He is one of more than 1,700 ASYV graduates building the country’s future.

Your support of our work with young people like Hussein is more critical than ever. That’s why members of the ASYV Board joined together to create a matching challenge: Your gift today will be matched, up to $200,000—and have twice the impact on our students. www.asyv.org/donate

Help build thriving futures today! ASYV transformed how I see my value in the world,” says Tanita Kirezi Mvano, ASYV Class of 2019.

Tanita now works to ensure young people across Rwanda can access higher education. She is one of more than 1,700 ASYV graduates building Rwanda’s future.

In today’s uncertain international fundraising landscape, your support of our work is more critical than ever. Your gift today will be matched, up to $200,000—and have double the impact on our students. Donate at www.asyv.org/donate

Together, we can ensure the next generation of young Rwandans can access the same healing, education, and love—and thrive.

Our students work to foster healing and build skills to alleviate stress and anxiety in themselves—while supporting one another.

Students offer peer-to-peer counseling through our Heal The Heart Initiative, and Mental Health Champions in each grade lead wellness sessions.Students also attend yoga sessions, where they learn to tune in with their mind and body.

“Yoga is amazing,” says 1st-year student Lesly Karekezi. “You go there and close your eyes and meditate, and it is so relaxing.”

Graduation day was a day of joy, love, and dancing. We built ASYV together, as a community—and as the day showed, what we built has changed lives. But our newest graduates are also entering the world at an uncertain time.

That's why our Board Members have joined together to launch a matching gift challenge: every dollar donated by July 1 will be doubled, up to $200,000. Donate today at asyv.org/donate

Today, youth unemployment is high, and the support systems Rwanda's young people depend on are under pressure as the international funding landscape shifts. Your support has never been more critical to ASYV's ability to continue our work.

Even a small amount can provide the opportunity a young person needs to create a future. Every $ will have twice the impact!

Give a big Village 👏 to 4 recent ASYV graduates who already earned acceptance to attend top schools in the U.S. next year!

Bienveillance Mutoniwase and W***y Mutesa, Class of 2026, will attend Tufts University. Christella Umutoni, Class of 2026, will attend Minerva University. And Twizeyimana Pierre Norasca, Class of 2025, will attend Berea College.

Our Career Resources Center remains hard at work, supporting many more students and alumni as they work to apply to colleges in Rwanda and around the world this year. We look forward to reporting more good news on our students’ higher education journeys!

Last week, ASYV students worked together to renovate the home of a survivor of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi. “We were able to have a conversation with the family. They told us their life wasn’t easy, and they thanked us for our help,” says 1st-year student Mellon. “It taught me that it is important to support each other and put yourself in other people’s shoes.”

The project was part of the ASYV community service program. Through Tikkun Olam projects, our students learn that they have the power to help .

The renovation initiative was conducted in collaboration with the company RG Partners and Rubona Sector leadership. Together, we are building a better world.

What a weekend! Check out these highlights from Friday’s celebration of the 128 members our Ishami Grade, the ASYV . Ishami means branch in Kinyarwanda.

As Ineza Umuhoza Emeline said of the grade during her valedictory address, “We leave as 128 branches carrying hope, purpose, and service into the world. Ishami is ready. We are ready to build, to create, and to contribute. We each have an immense potential. 128 branches. 128 promises. Ishami, it’s our time to bear fruits.”

We know you will grow, flourish, and thrive—and build a better world.
