💧 Water Conservation | Soil Protection | Sustainable Watershed Development

Under the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development –UPRO supported Watershed Development Project in Banda district, Uttar Pradesh, a masonry check dam with a 4-metre head wall has been constructed to address the long-standing problem of runoff and soil erosion.

The structure enables safe disposal and controlled movement of rainwater, reducing water velocity and preventing erosion that had affected the area in earlier years. This intervention will also support water harvesting, groundwater recharge, soil conservation and improved agricultural resilience.

🌱 A small structure today, a stronger and more sustainable watershed tomorrow.

💧 5-Metre Head Wall Masonry Check Dam | NABARD, UPRO Supported Watershed Project

A 5-metre head wall masonry check dam has been constructed under the NABARD-supported Piparodar Watershed Project, implemented by Adarsh Gyan Vigyan Vikas Sansthan (AGVVS) in Banda, Uttar Pradesh.

The structure is helping to reduce water velocity and surface runoff, allowing rainwater to remain in the drainage channel for longer. Water is now retained along nearly 3,000 metres of the drain, creating significant potential for groundwater recharge, reducing soil erosion and improving moisture availability for agriculture.

🧵 Stitching Training Programme | Village Narauli, Banda

A wonderful learning experience under the NABARD-supported Piparodar Watershed Programme, where beneficiaries participated in an engaging group discussion and activity-based learning session.

👩‍🦰 The participants were divided into 3 groups of 7 members each and, using chart papers, creatively presented the knowledge and skills they gained through the training and NABARD’s support.

✨ The activity beautifully reflected their enhanced stitching skills, confidence, creativity and teamwork. It was truly inspiring to see the participants transform their learning into practical ideas and express their experiences collectively.

📍 Village: Narauli, Banda, Uttar Pradesh

A Farmers’ Training-cum-Exposure Visit was organized on Animal Rehabilitation, with a focus on creating awareness among farmers about the proper care, management, and importance of timely vaccination of livestock.

During the exposure visit, farmers gained practical knowledge about animal health, breed management, nutrition, disease prevention, and vaccination practices. The farmers also had an opportunity to interact closely with Murrah buffaloes, Sahiwal cows, Gir cows, and Tharparkar cows, learning about their characteristics, management practices, and potential for sustainable livestock-based livelihoods.

The programme aimed to strengthen farmers’ knowledge and encourage the adoption of scientific and improved livestock management practices for better animal health, productivity, and rural livelihoods.
