🔥 Heatwaves are no longer just a season—they are becoming a harsh reality for our communities. From homes to fields, rising temperatures are affecting lives every single day.
But what if the answer is not only about cooling ourselves, but also about healing the planet?
🌱 This Earth Day, let us remember that nature already holds the solutions.
Mangroves are among nature’s strongest climate protectors. They:
✔ Absorb large amounts of carbon dioxide
✔ Help regulate local climate and temperature
✔ Protect coastal communities from cyclones, floods, and extreme weather
Their roots may grow along the coast, but their impact goes far beyond—supporting the balance of the climate we all depend on.
Every single day, marginalized community members who depend on rivers for crab and fish collection are now leading mangrove conservation efforts. The plantation sites are far from human habitation, yet they cross rivers daily to monitor, protect, and safeguard both planted and natural mangroves.
👩🌾 Through our Women for Mangroves movement, women are emerging as frontline climate leaders—planting, protecting, and nurturing these green lifelines with immense dedication and care.
So far, we have planted 45,000 mangrove saplings by following best practices in plantation, monitoring, and protection, resulting in higher survival rates. We are also currently nurturing 65,000 saplings for future plantation and restoration efforts.
🌍 Our vision is bold: Millions of Mangroves by 2030.
Each sapling planted today is a step towards a cooler, safer, and more climate-resilient tomorrow.
🌎 This Earth Day, let us not just celebrate nature—let us stand for it. Let us also recognise, support, and stand with the real climate leaders from our communities who are protecting our future every single day.
