ছৌ।
শুনলেই গর্বে বুক ভরে যায়। অথচ, যারা এই নাচটি বঁচিয়ে রেখেছেন, তাদের বেঁচে থাকা কি পুরোপুরি ছৌ নির্ভর? এই প্রশ্নের উত্তর কিছুটা এই সেদিন 'অগ্নি উৎসব' এর আমন্ত্রণ দিতে গিয়ে পেলাম। হুডো ও চেলিয়ানা নামের দুই গ্রাম। পুরুলিয়া। ছজন ছিলেন। অম্বুবাচি থেকে তাদের চাষাবাদ বন্ধ থাকে, এই সময়েই তারা বেরিয়ে পড়েন, ছৌ চর্চা এবং কোথাও কোনও অনুষ্ঠানের উদ্দেশ্যে। মূলত নিম্নবর্ণের (কথক যা বলেছেন) ছেলেপুলেরাই বেশি। তারা যেহেতু মাইনর, তাই ভাতা পায় না। আর দলগত ভাবে যা পাওয়া যায় নিজেদের পনেরো কুড়ি জনে ভাগ করে টেনেটুনে চলে। তাহলে প্রশ্ন, এতকিছু থাকতে এত কষ্ট করে ছৌ কেন?
আজ যারা আসবেন, হয়ত আঁচ করতে পারবেন।
দেখা হচ্ছে ঠিক সন্ধ্যা ছটা।

রঙ বানানো শেখা এবং শেখানো সাথে প্রস্তুতি অনুষ্ঠানের সব চলছে, ওদের আমন্ত্রণ পেয়েছেন তো? তাহলে অপেক্ষা প্রায় শেষ, কাল পেরিয়ে পরশু, দেখা হচ্ছে!
