"Industrial Revival Begins with Hope, Not Headlines Alone"

The reported reopening of 14 closed jute mills in West Bengal is an encouraging development for our state's economy. If this progress is sustained, it can restore livelihoods for thousands of workers, strengthen the income of jute farmers, revive local businesses and rebuild confidence among investors.

However, true industrial revival requires more than reopening factory gates. It demands a long-term commitment to peaceful industrial relations, policy stability, technological modernization and a business-friendly environment where workers and industrialists grow togetherโ€”not at each other's expense.

This is precisely the vision of HIRED Forum (Hindustan Industrial Revival & Economic Development Forum)โ€”to create a win-win ecosystem where industries flourish, workers prosper and regional economies rise.

Let this be the beginning of a new chapter for West Bengalโ€”one driven by employment, investment, productivity and inclusive development.

๐ŸŒพ Bengal's Jute Industry Gets a New Boost! ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

The announcement to establish 10 new jute mills in West Bengal is a significant step towards reviving one of the state's oldest and most important industries.

This initiative has the potential to:
โœ… Generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities.
โœ… Strengthen the rural economy by increasing demand for raw jute.
โœ… Promote eco-friendly and sustainable alternatives to plastic.
โœ… Revive industrial growth and boost Bengal's manufacturing sector.

If implemented effectively and transparently, this could mark the beginning of a new chapter for Bengal's industrial development.

HIRED Forum welcomes every initiative that creates jobs, strengthens industry and improves the livelihoods of workers and farmers. We hope these projects are completed on time and bring tangible benefits to the people of West Bengal.

"Record Defence Production: A Milestone in India's Journey Towards Self-Reliance"

India's record defence production of โ‚น1.78 lakh crore in FY 2025โ€“26, marking a 15.6% annual growth, is a significant achievement for the nation. It reflects the success of the government's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, aimed at reducing dependence on imported defence equipment and strengthening indigenous manufacturing.

Over the past five years, India's defence production has grown by nearly 110%, supported by policy reforms, increased private sector participation, simplified licensing and the development of defence industrial corridors. At the same time, defence exports have reached a record โ‚น38,424 crore, demonstrating growing global confidence in Indian-made defence products.

Beyond national security, this growth contributes to employment generation, technological innovation, industrial development and economic progress. A robust domestic defence industry also enhances India's strategic autonomy and resilience.

However, the journey towards complete self-reliance is not yet over. India still relies on foreign countries for certain advanced technologies, including aircraft engines, specialised sensors and sophisticated electronic systems. Greater investment in research, innovation and skill development will be essential to bridge these gaps.

The record defence production is more than an economic milestoneโ€”it is a strong indicator of India's growing capabilities, confidence and determination to emerge as a global leader in defence manufacturing.

"Roadmap for โ‚น19,000 Crore Investment in Bengal: Brainstorming Between Center and State"

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, met Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday to discuss in detail an investment plan of โ‚น19,209 crore in the state. The goal of this ambitious plan is to develop the state into a major maritime, logistics and shipbuilding hub of Eastern India by the year 2031.

This meeting, which lasted for about an hour and a half, was the first official meeting between the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and the State Government after the BJP government came to power in the state. The meeting laid special emphasis on port development, expansion of waterways and strengthening the maritime economy.

Expectation of Creating Over 62,500 Jobs

According to the Union Ministry, the proposed projects will generate more than 62,500 direct and indirect employment opportunities. Additionally, it will give a new momentum to ports, inland waterways, shipbuilding, logistics and port-based industries.

Bengal to Become the Maritime Gateway of Eastern India

Sonowal stated that West Bengal is a state poised to play a highly crucial role in India's maritime future. He mentioned that with an investment of โ‚น19,209 crore, Kolkata and Haldia will be developed as the premier maritime gateways of Eastern India.

Amul's โ‚น7,650 Crore Investment: A Landmark Opportunity for West Bengal

The reported investment of โ‚น7,650 crore by Amul to establish a fully owned dairy processing plant in West Bengal is a highly encouraging development for the state's industrial and agricultural ecosystem.

For decades, West Bengal has possessed immense potential in the dairy sector, yet large-scale investments and modern processing infrastructure have remained limited. A project of this magnitude has the potential to transform the dairy value chain by creating direct and indirect employment, strengthening rural incomes and providing dairy farmers with improved market access.

From an economic development perspective, the initiative can contribute to:

โœ… Employment generation across production, processing, logistics, and retail sectors.
โœ… Enhanced income opportunities for milk producers and rural households.
โœ… Development of supporting industries such as cattle feed, cold-chain logistics, packaging, and veterinary services.
โœ… Greater private investment confidence in West Bengal's agro-processing sector.

At HIRED (Hindustan Industrial Revival & Economic Development Forum), we believe that sustainable economic growth requires a balanced partnership between industry, agriculture and local communities. Large-scale investments such as this can play a crucial role in strengthening rural economies while accelerating industrial development.

We hope that the project prioritizes local employment, farmer participation, skill development and technology transfer so that the benefits reach the grassroots level. If successfully implemented, this investment could emerge as a model for agro-industrial development and further enhance West Bengal's position in India's dairy and food processing sector.

Industrial growth and rural prosperity must go hand in hand. This is the development model that India needs.
