The bright yellow feet are one of the most distinctive features of the Little Egret, often called “golden slippers.”
These yellow toes act like a visual hunting tool—they stir up small fish, insects, and aquatic creatures in shallow water.
While feeding, the egret may shuffle or vibrate its feet, a technique known as “foot stirring”, to flush out hidden prey.

Its most iconic feature is its repetitive “tuk…tuk…tuk…” call, which sounds exactly like a hammer hitting metal. That’s why it’s called the coppersmith—it literally sounds like someone working in a metal workshop!

A shy yet fascinating wetland bird, the Eurasian Moorhen is easily recognized by its black body, bright red bill with a yellow tip, and long greenish legs. Commonly found near ponds, lakes, and marshes, it gracefully walks on floating vegetation thanks to its long toes.
