Honored to engage with today for a quick review of HBR.
Many companies think AI will replace expertise.
But new research highlighted in Harvard Business Review suggests the opposite.
AI can make novices faster β
but it cannot replace real expertise.
Researchers call this limit the βAI Wall.β
Hereβs what it means.
When people already have related knowledge, AI can dramatically boost their performance.
In some cases, non-experts using AI performed almost as well as specialists.
But when people lack foundational domain knowledge, AI barely helps at all.
They cannot judge:
β’ whether AI output is correct
β’ what should be improved
β’ what should be rejected
And thatβs where human expertise becomes irreplaceable.
For HR leaders, this insight is critical.
If organizations assume AI can replace expertise, they may:
β οΈ hire fewer juniors
β οΈ weaken the future talent pipeline
β οΈ overestimate what AI can actually deliver
Instead, the winning strategy is different:
β Use AI to augment people with adjacent expertise
β Invest in foundational learning and domain knowledge
β Protect early-career talent development
β Train employees to work with AI, not depend on it
The future workforce will not be AI replacing humans.
It will be AI-augmented experts.
And the organizations that understand this early will build the strongest talent advantage.
