Commissioner/Secretary FCS&CA Sh. Saurabh Bhagat, IAS visits Pahalgam to review developmental works and SANJY-2026 preparedness*
*Conducts surprise inspection of Chandanwari,Pahalgam Granary – main dumping sites for Yatra foodgrain storage
Pahalgam, May 10: Shri Saurabh Bhagat, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, conducted an extensive tour of Pahalgam to assess the ground situation of various developmental activities being executed by the Department and to review preparedness for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2026.
Commissioner Secretary to Government Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department Jammu and Kashmir was accompanied by Assistant Director FCS&CA Anantnag, Malik Muzafar (JKAS), TSO Pahalgam, Sajad Ahmad Geeri, along with a team of officials.
During the visit, he inspected ongoing works related to augmentation of storage infrastructure, repair/renovation of departmental assets, and other logistics arrangements being put in place for ensuring seamless supply of foodgrains and other essential commodities during SANJY-2026.
He also carried out a surprise inspection of the Pahalgam Granary, which functions as the main dumping site for storage and dispatch of foodgrains for Yatra Langars, service providers, and government establishments enroute the Holy Cave. He took stock of the available stock position, quality control measures, fire-safety equipment and security of the premises.
Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements, Commissioner Secretary to Government Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department Jammu and Kashmir directed the officers to ensure 100% advance dumping of required foodgrains and petroleum products well before the commencement of Yatra. He emphasized strict adherence to quality norms, round-the-clock monitoring of stocks, and maintaining adequate buffer to meet any exigency.
He further instructed the field functionaries to work in close coordination with District Administration Anantnag, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, and other stakeholder departments to ensure hassle-free services to the pilgrims and local population.
He later on carried out inspection of various sale outlets in Pahalgam and visited the office of Assistant Director FCS&CA at Anantnag. During the visit, he directed Assistant Director Anantnag for identification of land for Establishment of Research Institute at Anantnag for FCS&CA Employees to enhance capacity building and professional competence of the workforce.The Institute will serve as a center of excellence for in-service training of departmental employees on modern supply chain management, foodgrain quality control, e-PoS operations, end-to-end computerization of PDS, grievance redressal mechanisms, and best practices in public distribution.
