🌱🤝 S. Madanna’s Journey: Community Leadership and Livelihood Growth🌱🤝

S. Madanna, from Polepalli Village, began his journey as a Sangha member in 2004. Over the years, he served as a Sangha leader, Director for 4 years, President of Prathibha Disability Society for 3 years, and also worked as a field cadre for 5 months. He contributed to strengthening Sanghas, forming new groups, enrolling members, and supporting the Society’s development. One of his significant contributions was his continuous effort in securing land for the Prathibha Disability Society building in Ramagiri mandal, which successfully led to the government sanctioning 10 cents of land in 2018 after years of dedicated follow-up with officials. 🤝✨

With support from the Society, he established a grocery shop through a loan, improving his family’s livelihood. He also became part of the Militha Jeevanopadula Sangam (MJS), a soap and hair oil production unit run by persons with disabilities. Today, his work not only supports his family’s livelihood but it also reflects the power of collective effort, community support, determination, and inclusive livelihood opportunities in creating meaningful social and economic empowerment for persons with disabilities.🙌 🤝

🌱📊 Crop planning session for Directors & ToT members🌱📊

A revision session on Crop Planning was conducted for the Directors and ToT (Training of Trainers) members of Dharani FaM Cooperative Society for strengthening their understanding of crop planning to ensure a year-round supply of raw materials. 📊🤝

During the session, the annual business plan, required cultivation area, and quantity targets for different crops were discussed in detail. Comparative analysis between commonly cultivated crops and millets was also presented, highlighting aspects such as cost of cultivation, market opportunities, and price benefits. 🌿📈

The session also strengthened the facilitation skills of Directors and ToT members for conducting crop planning meetings in their villages and motivating farmers towards better crop planning and millet cultivation for sustainable livelihoods. 🏡🌍✨

💧 A visit from the donor to the Chelimi Programme’s Rayalaseeme Water Initiative (RWI).💧

The RWI project, implemented by the Timbaktu Collective under the Chelimi programme, has completed two successful years and has entered its third year. 🤝 ✨

To review second-year activities and outcomes, Mr. Nelson from the Azim Premji Foundation (APF) visited Shyapuram, Kambalapalli, Mustikovela, and Kanumukkala villages on 4th and 5th of May. He observed key interventions, including check dams, farm ponds, tank desilting, water-sharing systems, supply channel repairs, and organic farming fields. He appreciated the project efforts, noting that organic farming improves yields while reducing input costs! 🌿 🌱

JCS members and village leaders shared how these interventions enhanced water availability, farming practices, and livelihoods. The visit enabled reflection, validation of field-level outcomes, and guidance for strengthening implementation in the coming year.🙌✨️

🌿✨ Prakruthi Badi Annual Day 2026✨🌿

After a whole school year, we celebrated our School Day, marking the end of the academic year on April 28th 2026. The evening was a joyful showcase of children's talent, creativity, and learning with various cultural performances, vibrant dances and songs. Highlights of the evening was a Rani Rudramadevi monologue, environmental-themed dramas beautifully highlighting the importance of farmers and trees, a leather puppetry performance and a dance performance by the Chiguru team and Timbaktu residents. 🌱🎭

The program began energetically with traditional art Puli Adugulu and Potteshkalu, setting a lively tone. A proud and emotional moment was the Graduation Ceremony of our Class 5 students as they stepped into a new phase of their academic journey. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the audience — members of the Timbaktu Collective Panchayathi, Timbaktu residents, and everyone who supported us by teaching dance performances, capturing photographs, and cheering us on. The parents of our children also played an invaluable role in making this event a grand success.🙏📸

The night was filled with lights, smiles, and lasting memories✨😊🎉

💫Panchayati – A gathering of all employees of the Timbaktu Collective and its promoted Cooperatives!💫

We recently got together for our bi-monthly gathering, to review all the work done in the past 1 year, and to appreciate the impact and outcomes of the various thematic programmes. 🤝 ✨

Following this, we invited new comers, sang songs, and also had a session on ‘Organizational Cultural’ taken by Founders of the Timbaktu Collective Ms. Mary (Secretary) and Mr. Bablu (Chairperson). The session was extremely engaging and  valuable! 👏🏾

We ended the day by practicing and performing ‘Kollattam’ – a traditional dance form, and attending the Annual Day celebrations of Nature School (Prakurti Badi), A residential primary school located on Timbaktu Campus.🎉🙌

🌿Growing Resilience, One Crop at a Time🌿

For many small and marginal women farmers, especially in drought-prone regions, growing vegetables throughout the year while maintaining crop diversity is a real challenge. 🌾

Through the Dharani FaM Cooperative, these women are now cultivating a diverse variety of vegetables using organic farming practices with confidence. With continuous support and training from the Timbaktu Collective, they are learning intensive vegetable cultivation, crop planning with seasonal calendars, and sustainable practices. 📘

By adopting companion planting, intercropping, and border crops, farmers are not only improving crop diversity but also ensuring additional income and reducing market risks. 🌼🥕

Regular field visits and guidance from field teams are helping them follow best practices consistently. Slowly but surely, they are moving away from single cropping to diverse, year-round vegetable production. 💪🌿

✨ Earth Day Celebrations at Puttaparthi✨

The Timbaktu Collective and eight partner NGOs organised the Earth Day celebrations at Puttaparthi. The District Collector and government officials participated, along with around 500 farmers. The exhibition stalls by participating organisations created awareness on agriculture and environmental themes. 🌱🌍

Key discussions focused on tank desilting, water conservation, and sustainable agriculture. CK Ganguly (Bablu), Chairperson and Co-founder of Timbaktu Collective, spoke on soil health, the Panchabhutas, and ecological balance. The programme was attended by Co-founder and secretary Mary, Executive Director Sukanya, and Programme Managers P. Srikanth, Ramesh Kumar, and G. Mahesh, along with staff and farmers. In the afternoon, nine NGOs had a special meeting as part of the Government of Andhra Pradesh's 100 Days Action Plan, where the District Collector urged NGOs to repair and restore village water bodies to improve groundwater levels across the district. 💧🤝 🌾

✨️Water Project Action Plan Workshop✨️

A planning workshop was held at the MYRADA office in Kadiri, where all eight Rayalaseema Water Initiative (RWI) NGO partners came together to prepare the 3rd Year Action Plan. The workshop enabled reflection, learning, and collaborative planning based on the experiences gained over the past two years. Drawing from field-level insights, the partners jointly developed four practical manuals focusing on water management, natural and organic farming, fallow land development, and common land development to guide future work. 💧🌱

Each NGO partner will develop one village as an “RWI Model Village,” where integrated water resource management and sustainable agricultural practices will be demonstrated effectively. This approach aims to create strong, replicable models at the grassroots level. The goal is that within four years, these villages will evolve into self-sustaining systems where water resources are efficiently managed, and organic farming practices are widely adopted. From The Timbaktu Collective, Srikanth, Ravi, and Sannappaiah actively participated in this training, contributing to the planning process. 🌾🌍
