Astronomers using the James Webb Space Telescope have studied 72 young, Sun-like stars—and made a fascinating discovery.

Planet formation may actually be a race against time.

Young stars are surrounded by swirling disks of gas and dust containing the raw materials needed to build planets. But this material is constantly escaping into space.

That means planets have only a limited window to form before their building blocks disappear.

The study offers new clues about how planetary systems—including our own Solar System—took shape billions of years ago.

Could JWST be revealing how Earth and the other planets were born? 🌌🔭

Nepal remains on high alert after China issued a fresh warning over a dangerous barrier lake formed after deadly flash floods near the Nepal-China border. The lake upstream of Gyirong Port reportedly holds more than 2.5 million cubic metres of water, raising fears of a possible breach and further flooding downstream.

Chinese authorities are conducting aerial surveys and 3-D modelling while teams monitor the unstable barrier.

⚠️ A sudden breach could trigger another dangerous surge downstream.
