Sampoorna Bamboo Kendra [email protected] Sampoorna Bamboo Kendra (SBK) has been working in Melghat for the last 25 years.

SBK has been engaged in training of tribal youth in Bamboo handicraft and housing. So far more than 10000 people have been trained and are engaged in the production of various bamboo craft articles as a cottage industry supplementing their family income. To support this activity SBK established a network of self-help groups of tribal women and artisan. SBK has promoted 210 self-help groups in 66 v

illages of Melghat (39 villages in Daharni and 27 villages in Chikhaldara Blocks) of which 115 are women group and 58 are male groups, consisting of 2066 members (1261 female and 805 male). Out of this, 173 groups have been promoted under NABARD’s SHG add on activity. SBK promoted, 134 groups of tribal and 39 groups are artisan groups. The total membership of these groups is 2066, out of which 1261 are female members and 805 are male members. All these groups are connected to the banks and they can get the loan from these banks.
