A lending library started in 1978, for quenching the intellectual thirst of Keralites in Rajahmundry slowly paved the way for establishing a full fledged Kerala Samajam, in this historic city of Rajamahendri, on the banks of holy river Godavari. Rajan(S.C Railway),Mr George(Transport)and Mr Peethamparam (Horlicks),Mr. O N Kunjappy(Horlicks) etc. Dedicated and concerted effort by all of them led to

the official formation of Rajahmundry, Kerala Samajam on April 13th,1979 with Mr Appu(Owner Santhi Nivas) as President and Mr O N Kunjappy as Secretary. Rest is history with Samajam’s active role as a common platform for Malayalees in Rajahmundry and organising variety of literary and cultural programmes reflecting the rich heritage of Kerala
