We plan to do this by appropriate skill-building and improving livelihood opportunities, and by addressing environmental degradation and waste management issues Our mission for the next 5 years:
Improving Livelihood Opportunities
1) Over the next three years, conduct training programs on new livelihood opportunitites for farmers of Binsar villages and surrounding areas.
2) Over the next
three years, influence at least 20 farmers to adopt herbal and aromatics farming and bee-keeping. Also aid them in setting up infrastructure for the same.
3) Over the next three years, conduct training programs on bamboo weaving, candle making, soap making etc. for women.
4) Provide basic guidance in marketing the produce/products. As volumes are not expected to be so high, the trust will only help the farmers/producers connect with bulk buyers.
5) Starting from the 3rd year when the volumes are expected to be sizeable, the trust will work towards maximizing margins for the farmers. Possible alternatives are forming a co-operative or a farmer-producer organization, helping with organic certification, setting up infrastructure for value-addition and so on. Environment Related
1) During the current year, set up a dry waste management system for all the villages and resorts and homestays in Binsar.
2) Conduct environmental awareness programs in schools in Binsar and surrounding areas on a periodic basis
3) The second year onwards, popularize renewable energy (bio-gas stoves) and fuel-efficient stoves.
