Hope for Hopeless
This is a story of a positive women Nilima (name changed), W/O. Jonathan (Name Changed), who lives in Alipurduar district of West Bengal. She is married and has three Sons. Her husband was working in outside of the state as labor work due to poor family background to support their daily needs and the education of children. He (Husband) informed to the project staff that while he was in outside of the state that he had a s*xual relationship with s*x workers and was identified HIV positive in 2016. After that he was informed by the project more about this virus completely and he is taking ART regularly. When the project staffs came to know that he is infected with HIV virus, the project staff continuously visited and gave counseling to their family and informed more about HIV/AIDS. After that staff asks all of their family members to go for the HIV Test. But result was HIV negative. During the month of March and April 2018 her (Nilima’) health condition was not good at all and she was suffering continuously. Her family members had taken her to hospitals, Nursing home, wherever possible but nothing was found. Slowly her health condition was going down and down. She was not able to cook, not able to go out, can’t sleep and eat properly; and was nervous and very much challenged for her health. Her blood level was below point 5. When the project staff visited her she was very much nervous and mentally ill not only that she was not able see properly. She shared to staff that “it is better to die for me; I don’t want to live; it is enough for me” (because she was taken to hospitals, Nursing home but nothing was found and her health condition was going down and down). Finally project staff encourage them and taken her to the ICTC (Integrated Counseling and Testing Center) and tested her blood but found HIV negative again. After all next day by the concern with FPAI (Family Planning Association of India) staff had taken her to FPAI center and tested again and was found HIV positive. Finally staffs have taken to the hospital and ART center for further treatment. As of now she is taking regular ART, and her health condition is very much well and she received a great hope for her life. Now she can cook, eat and sleep properly. Not only that now she is going to market regularly to buy their daily needs. Now her and her husband both are doing well and trying their best to maintain their health in systematic way and to live better lives with their family.
